Farmers Cheese
 
I am looking for the nutritional facts on Farmers cheese, there is nothing on the packaging and I have searched in the LC tools.. and fit day with out any luck.... However I did find farmers cottage cheese :confused: Maybe I am searching it wrong??? If you can help me :q: ....

I moved your post to the Kitchen, Sadai. I'm sure either Karen or Sharon will be able to help. I'm not *sure* but would farmer's cheese be the same as what they were discussing in the Group Project V2 the last few days (Dry Curd cheese?)?

I don't think so :confused: as it looks and tastes somewhat like Havarti. I find it strange that there is no reference to it, as I purchased it after noticing it was recommended on the Stillman diet. I am assuming that it must be pretty low carb and low fat... Anyway I will keep looking??? Thanks anyhoo... :)

I think the farmer's cheese on Stillman is a dry, pressed, cottage cheese that's also known as pot cheese.

Yes Sadai, Farmer’s Cheese is basically a dryer more pressed cottage cheese akin to the famed French fromage blanc. I think it would have less carbs than cottage cheese since the “wet” stuff is whey which contains carbs. Here’s an American nutrition breakdown:

if it's a brick of semi-soft cheese with a pale creamy yellow colour, and you bought it in Canada, it's more likely to be the second cousin of Jack or Monterey Jack cheese and (please check the ButterFat and Moisture content on the label and see if they're close) it's likely to have about the same counts. I've had it and it tastes somewhere between Edam and Havarti... more on the Edam side :D

Sometimes there are local and national and international naming differences that only experience (and 14 linear feet of cookbooks) will bring to the fore...

PS: the fromage blanc Bill referes to is in this country generally imported and doesn't at all resemble a loose crumble cottage cheese or a Havarti. Often sold as "fresh cheese" or "unripened cheese".

That's it! :cheer: Unfortunately there is nothing other than the name, the weight and the price on the packaging, and why I was wondering what the nutritional content was.....

Thanks to all who tried, I guess it shall remain a mystery for now... Maybe that is why they have no info on the packaging, they don't know either.. :D
