Hi, everyone!

I posted a thread in a different area and Nat and Doreen said I should come introduce myself, so here I am. My name is Dani and I've been LCing on the Atkins Induction for 3 weeks now and love it! My skin is better, my clothes are looser and my body is getting rid of fat.

I've been overweight as long as I can remember. I have tried Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig over the last decade, losing and gaining the same 20 lbs 3 times with WW and gaining back 50 of the 65 I lost w/JC. I had pretty much given up hope of ever being at a healthy weight when I decided to read DANDR and wow! I'm glad I did.

I'm trying to be patient with my weight/fat loss, but I just got engaged and we're getting married in August, so I feel a greater sense of urgency to meet my goal or at least be close by then. I can't believe people expect you to buy a dress 6-8 months before the wedding - can you alter a dress down 4 or 5 sizes?!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone!

welcome

Welcome, and a big congratulations on your engagement. I'm sure you're going to be busy this winter making all the arrangement, plus concentrating on your new way of eating.

I'd make sure I explained to the sales ladies that you're planning on losing weight. I would definitely not order your dress until you have too, but make sure it's not the final hour!! I'm sure they have dealt with other situations such as yours. Everyone wants to lose weight before their wedding...even the bridesmaids dresses are probably an item that requires a lot of altering

You've got lots of reasons to want to look your best, plus you also want to feel great. I'm sure you'll gain new found energy when you get into lowcarbing.

Remember this is a new way of eating and not a diet for a few months. As you've learned any new diet once you've stopped and gone back to your old way creates negative results.

I know you can do this, you're going to look great on your wedding day.

Post often and let us know how you're doing. Be sure to ask about anything you're concerned with, someone here is sure to know.

Hi DD - welcome to the board!!

Atkins will be the last *diet* you will ever be on. You will never lose the same pound again, over and over. Once each one is gone, it is gone forever.

You will be gorgeous at your wedding, and don't worry about the dress - you'll find a bridal shop that will take orders a month before the wedding, it won't have to be made of spandex either :)

Now put all I've said in a little envelope with a sign on the front that says "open and read July 1 2002" and see if I'm not right about everything.

For Grrlpower - Exercise

I just realized that I never answered you - I hope you come back and look. I tried to send you a private message, but I couldn't. Anyway, I vary my exercise between walking (on a treadmill and outside when it isn't sweltering) lifting weights (just for toning) and swimming. For some reason, Texans don't think swimming is a year round activity, so I've found the frigid water in fall and winter to be prohibitive!

I usually walk for 30-60 minutes, depending on how much time I have, 4 or 5 days a week. Hope that helps!

Dani
