Any TALL women out there 5'11?

Have been searching the forum (in the profiles) for any women who mathces my height and build. Have come up with nothing! I am 5'11 (TALL!) which is sometimes a blessing when it comes to my weight! 233 when starting Atkins!(and no one, even my doctor would guess it's so high!) now 3 weeks later, down 13 lbs. Anyhow, my question is for any other TALL women out there, what have you made for your "goal weight"? I have made mine at 190, sounds high for a lot of people, but the research I have done says I should weigh between 170-190. I was at my lowest 10 years ago at 175 wearing a size 8!!!!!!!!!!!! too skinny for tall me! please give me your input! :q: :q: :q:

I am not tall by a long shot but you should set your goal weight where you feel comfortable... and where you feel you look good and physically feel good... nothing else matters.... start at 190 if you want and readjust if when you reach it you feel a couple more lbs might be ok....

WOW, only in my dreams am I 5' 11" ;) You are fortunate in a lot of ways. A lot of my friends are a good bit taller than I am and they too wear smaller sizes at a lot more weight and LOOK smaller than me just because of the height. If you feel good at 190 and the health charts say its good then thats the weight for you!

There is someone called Fern on here that is also almost 6 feet tall. Try searching for her posts and then clicking on her journal.

I'm 5'10... and currently 204. My goal weight is 150. I think I must be proportioned oddly, I'm currently in a size 20... and years ago at 150, I wore a size 12. I think it's that I have no waist, and no butt either for that matter.

Hey, I'm tall, too!

Hi there...I'm 5'10" (just an inch shorter than you :D ) My goal is 160, because that's where I felt best when I was in my 20's (I'm 47 now) If it seems unrealistic as I inch closer, I'll change it to maybe 170...I started at 220 in August and am at 186 now, so it is working. I've had a couple of slow-downs, but nothing major...still seem to be losing about 2 lbs per week.

I know what you mean about shooting for a goal as high as 175, but that's what us tall folk need to do...125 would be zipper-thin! Yuck! I'd rather be tall and look fabulous at 175!

Rock on, tall chicks of the world! Cath

I'm close, 5'10", with a smallish-medium frame. I look my best at around 138, and I carry more muscle than most women because of the years and years I spent bodybuilding. My goal is 140-145, but I'll see what happens as I close in on 160 because, honestly, 160 doesn't look too horrible at my height -- I don't look overweight, and even now at 188, I don't look obese (when, technically, I am).

I have a cousin who is 6'1" and in a size 9 she was around 170lbs. It's interesting that different body shapes will weigh different amounts in the same clothing size.

My biggest peeve is that MEN believe that 140 lbs for someone my height is "fat," but they'd consider it too skinny for a man my same height. I just want to slap them. Yes, men typically carry more muscle, but my ex husband who was 5'11" and 130 lbs was a weakling. I had to open jars for him!

I'm 5'9" with a large frame. Last time I weighed 180 (my goal weight) -- which was about 20 years ago -- I looked good. I wore a 1980s size 12, which I think is about the equivalent of a size 10 today. The height-weight charts say I should be 169 or lower, but I have not weighed that in my entire adult life (I'm almost 47), so that does not seem realistic.

hiya,
I'm 5'10 and I've made my goal at 170. I still want to be 'plump' so I aimed a bit higher. When I told people my current weight when starting Atkin's, no one thought it was *that* high...I guess because I'm so tall.

Taller in boots, though :)

Hi there,
I am 5' 10 and would really like to get to 165-70.
At 180 I am easily a size 12-14, so at 165-170 I would guess I will be an 8-10 which may bee too skinny. I am very busty so I carry a lot of weight there and in my hips.

I got married at 20 at 155 lbs and was about a size 10. As I have gotten older I have built more muscle and carry the weight better. At my highest weight of 220, I was only a size 16 (go figure). I am trying to to stress out about the number, but go based on how I feel and look. I have a hard time losing the lbs with exercising, but the inches definately come off!

Tall girl

Init,
I am 5'10 and my ideal goal is 165, but I often think 175 would be peachy.
I think size is more a factor than weight. If you were at size 8, 175 that sounds pretty svelt to me.
Good luck finding your number. When you hit it, you will know it.

I'm almost 5'10" with a small frame (think "bird bones") and my starting weight was 235 size 22-24. Now at 145, I wear a 6-7 but still have a way to go yet to lose the roll of belly fat. Another 10# for me.

I'am 5'11 my starting weight 278. my current weight is 189. I wear a size 12 jeans. My goal weight is 165-170.

Six feet

Set my goal to be 165 but I suspect I may want to lower it when I get there. I've bounced off 170 a time or two and didn't like the amount of fat on my stomach and thighs.
