My average daily menu... is this okay?

I just wanted to show an example of what I've been eating on induction and get some feedback on whether or not I'm doing okay with it....

Breakfast:
A couple of scrambled eggs with about two tablespoons of each:
Bacon (diced)
Onion
Bell pepper
Mushrooms
A little grated cheddar on top

Lunch:
One can of tuna with full fat mayo
Celery sticks (~ a 1/2 cup to a cup)
4 to 5 slices of cucumber
4 radishes
3 to 4 slices of cheddar

Snack: If I need a snack, I'll usually grab a few celery sticks and maybe a little left over tuna. Most days, I put two low carb (less than 0.1 grams) chicken or beef bouillon cubes in hot water, let it desolve, cool a bit, and drink that.

Supper:
1-2 hamburger patties - or some grilled chicken
green beans - or mustard, turnip greens
Salad with small amount of lettuce, little tomato, chives, mushrooms, celery, radishes, bacon bits, a bit of grated cheddar and full fat Ranch dressing.

I tend to stay up late (to get my free time once the kids are in bed) and IF I need a snack, I'll settle for a couple of radishes, but mostly try to just drink more water even though I know it's not good to do right before bed. Number one, it can cause water retention, number two, it disrupts your sleep cause you have to keep running to the bathroom! lol ;)

Someone once told me... "It's not drinking lots of water that helps you lose weight, it's the trips back and forth to the bathroom!" ;) I think that's partly true! LOL!

Anyway, does this sound like an okay diet for induction or do I need to add more fat? Less fat? more ....something?

I'm also just taking calcium as far as supplements go. I WAS drinking whey protein shakes, but I wasn't sure if that was okay on induction, so I stopped. The whey protein contains 110 calories, 23 grams of protein, and 3 grams of carbs. Is this okay for induction, or should I continue to leave it out for now?

Thanks so much! I know some of you guys must get sick of all of us newbies asking the same questions...etc. but it sure does help to have a place to come to ask them. :)

Mmmm yum, I wish my menu was that varied. ;)

Well it looks pretty good to me, but beware of getting bored quickly with the same things day in day out. If you want to calculate things properly go to www.fitday.com and punch it all in there, you can do it free everydasy and it automatically calculates your carbs etc for you!

Thanks!

Luckily, I love tuna and veggies and BEEF!!! LOL! I haven't gotten tired of anything yet, but I do substitute every once in while. I'll have sardines, or fish... for some reason, though, I can't seem to stand the taste of pork anymore!

Anyway, I'm heading over to the recipes section to get ideas on low carb meals and snacks!

Also, I did join fitday, but I haven't spent enough time there yet, and haven't quite figured things out. I'll give it another shot today.

Well, having finished off induction myself just a few weeks ago, I can say that your menu looks rather similar to mine, although my breakfasts weren't as impressive :) It looks fairly decent to me. I'm not a diet guru, but I'm just wondering how many carbs from veggies you're getting....might be a bit over the 20 limit. Then again, I could be totally wrong. Ultimately, you'll know if this diet is working for you if 2 things happens:

1. Within the 2 weeks, you start losing pounds.

2. You feel healthy. (This, in my opnion, is more important than #1.)

So yeah, sounds good to me :)

Looks good. Wow, wish I had time to make breakfast like that. I can *usually* scramble a couple eggs and dash them with hot sauce, but I never had time for bacon (unless it's that predone stuff that you nuke). Dangit, now I'm hungry and I've still got an hour of work!

Looks like a great induction menu to me. A few of my other induction favourites were chicken salad or shrimp salad (chicken or shrimp with mayo, diced celery, a bit of lemon juice (for the shrimp) and a small bit of green onion), caesar salads either plain or with leftover grilled chicken, hard-boiled eggs for breakfast or snack, pepperoni sticks or cheese sticks for snack, LC BLT's (bacon, a bit of diced tomato, avocado and cheese rolled up in a lettuce leaf)...now I'm getting hungry.

Best of luck - looks like you're doing great so far!

Thanks! It's so reassuring! Phew! LOL!

Oh, and thanks for mentioning pepperoni! I called the hubby with a grocery list (he works in town, I'm stuck out in the country) and knew I was forgetting something. That was it!! :D

Sorry I made you guys hungry!!! ;)

I'm betting the carbs are just fine. If you are not getting carbs from the allowed 3-4 ounces of cheese, cream, processed lunch meats etc. and you are subtracting out the fibre, then you can eat a whole lot of veggies before you get to 20 grams.

Mmm

Sound like more variety than I let myself have! I am restarting induction myself this week and have lost 5 lbs! However- I have to watch the cheese and veggies- sometimes I just think its unlimited and stall the weightloss. My advice would be if you are losing weight you are doing great! I have noticed the added fat, like you are doing- ihelps me get into ketosis. I am learning to like avacodo!

Well, I did add a bit more cheese today, and cut out just a little of the veggies, and since I'm obsessed with the ketosticks (was gonna try to not test for a few days, that lasted all of 3 hours!), I tested again a few minutes ago and the result was between small and moderate ketones (it was slightly darker than small, and not quite as dark as moderate). So, I must be doing something right! :)

Now, I won't be as obsessed with it. I just wanted to know I was on the right track, and judging by that, I am! Woo hooo! :)

Nonnie << who finds reason to get excited about any little thing! It helps!
