flab help please!!

:help: I also posted this question in the general exercise forum, but the last post there was in July!!! Can anyone tell me a really good, low impact exercise to get rid of thigh and butt flab?? I had a surgery that left me unable to jog, although I walk 3-5 miles 5-7 days a week, do 150-200 crunches every night, and 50 leg lifts on each side..yet the flab remains!! I also need some lower ab work too, not nearly as much as before, but some..Please help with any ideas???? :agree:

Spot exercising doesn't help reduce fat in a particular area. You can build more muscle that way, but your body sets its own priorities about where to burn fat first.

oh great...I guess that I just have to wait for the thigh flab to get the message!!! Thanks!!!

The exercise will however help to make those areas firmer....some loose skin will never go away without cosmetic surgery :( especially the older you are.

Are you able to do yoga or pilates? I find they helped me a lot....

Just a thought.

How about aquasizes? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am very limited with what I can do but I do well in the water. I've just had one of my knees replaced (May 25) and I was back in the pool 4 weeks after surgery.

Have you tried lifting weights? That will help tone up, lower your body fat and build more muscle which will make you look better.

BTW, you must have been looking at just the threads on top (stickies). People visit and respond to the exercise forum everyday.

There was an exercise guy awhile back... wrote a book, can't remember the title. But he talked about various body issues women have. The depressing part was he said that thigh fat is probably about the last fat women lose. I think I can validate that. I've lost 70 pounds before on NutriSystems and while I did lose a lot of weight all over, my thighs always remained much fatter than the rest of me. Apparently that fat, according to him, is stored as a source of nutrients for when you're nursing!

Oh... just remembered 'The Fit or Fat Woman'. Kind of old now, but was interesting.
