Anyone NOT using the scale?

I have decided that I do not want to use the scale anymore so I bought a measuring tape and measured everything that I thought mattered to me. Will this way be more encouraging or should I just get on the scale? I am alittle nervous about what it is going to read because I think that I am at my all time high. Advice?

I just bought a scale today, and this is day 42 on this WOE. I didn't go out to buy one, but just ran across a great deal. My goal in starting the low carb WOE was to get control of my appetite and quit *gaining* weight. I haven't weighed myself in years, after 2 weeks my clothes seemed looser, so I did measure myself. Two weeks after that I measured and it showed l lost another inch off my belly.
From what I've read from other folks, you can lose inches without it showing on the scales. I only bought the scale because I was just curious. I now *know* I am getting smaller, so the number on the scale is not so depressing.

Currently I am not using the scale. I was when I first started. I needed validation every day that this WOE was working. Now I focus more on what I eat and how I feel. I am suposed to weigh every week now, but missed the last two, because I ate Pizza and Cake at my Son's birthday party and don't want to see the scale go up and bum me out. So, I will try to stay on track and weigh when I think I'll see something good!

I bought a scale the day before I started this WOE. I only weigh once a week. I can't do without it, as I don't measure so I need to see the progress (baggy clothes aren't doing it for me).

I'm not using a scale or even bothering to measure. I know the minute I get a scale I will become compulsive about seeing if I'm loosing what I consider enough, just look at the various threads about scales and weight. Measuring is inexact to say the least and I always wonder if I've changed the position of the tape measure or holding it tighter or looser.

So, I'm going to keep going by dress sizes and how my clothes fit, and how I feel. I've got a ways to go and I figure I didn't gain weight over night and I won't loose it over night either, but each day I can do more physically, feel better emotionially, and look better physically.

This works for me and feels right, do what is best for you and meets your needs.

Are you just starting out?? You might want to weigh at least once amonth. then you won't have the daily ups and downs to deal with, but will see progress monthly and that is so encouraging! Measuring is great too! Don't be worried about the numbers today, they will not stay here and you need to know how you're doing! Just write them down and start from there! You'll be losing inches soon!

Good luck!

me! i dont have a scale. im gonna "weighin" for the 1st time next week at the dr... started almost 7 weeks ago. i know i've lost inches because i've dropped sizes. im so excited to see how much i've lost. (and a lil scared too) i, too, dont want to be discouraged by a fluctuating scale or become obsessed with it, but i think im gonna buy one next week because it really is a good tool imo. at the moment, im unable to calculate my bmi or any of that, so, i think i need 1.

I do both... sometimes I see it on the scale and sometimes I see it on the tape... I find that even sometimes it is a double bonus and both show me progress!!! :D

I love my scale. At this point, I don't think I could stop using it. I weigh myself every morning. It helps me stay on track and figure out what combination of food, water, and exercise works best for me. The only time I ignore it is during my TOM, because there is just no point.

to weigh or not to weigh

Hi all, I am on day 6 so, yes still a newbie. I weighed myself on day 4 and showed a 7# loss. I was really jazzed, tho, I get that is was water, etc. Then, just to see it again, I weighed myself the next day. Up 2 lbs. That bothered me ALL DAY and much of today. It stirred up these irrational fears in me that my body will just go on strike and refuse to lose anymore (I have yo-yo'd a lot). I think I will weigh in monthly and measure myself tonight to see what happens.
I just don't want the added stress!

It's personal preference. In my case, I am sorry I do not know my exact starting weight. My doctor's scale only went up to 350 and I was above that. I put down 360, but it's just a guess. I may well have started out weighing more than that. I wish I had an accurate weight from the beginning, although it's not really a big deal.
