what plan do you prefer and why?

I'm new here, just joined today and am hoping to start a plan tomorrow. I have done Atkins in the past and felt great and lost weight, but got bored and gave up. I didn't really miss bread, rice & pasta, but really missed fruit. This time I thought about trying the GI diet. I'm not sure though. I really like the simpicity of Atkins.

I have PCOS so I know that a low carb lifestyle will benefit me.

My question is, what plan are you following and why do you prefer it?

Thanks,

Nancy

I use CDK / Body Opus.

Read the CKD101 and the stickies.
I use CKD because I weight lift and want to gain muscle and lose fat.

Atkins for Life

I started Atkins in January 2003. At first, it was very difficult because there were so few products to buy - especially in Canada. Now, just over a year later, you can go to a grocery store and even buy low carb bagels (my weakness). As more and more commercial products are on the shelves, the boredom with eating the same things is no longer such a problem. I can even get low carb ice cream....Try Atkins again...it works and there are more good choices now. Good luck!

I also choose Atkins. I am happy with the acceptable foods and I can find LC substitutions for those things I miss, which I only use in moderation. But my favorite thing about Atkins (and LCing in general) is that I have returned to eating whole foods and a more natural, healthy diet. Additionally, you mentioned that you missed fruit last time, but you can add some fruit back in to your diet as you progress. I have strawberries and other fruits regularly.

Good Luck to you!

I do Atkins simply because of the simplicity of it. I don't have to worry about figuring much out other than how many carbs something has. We are slowly getting more low carb items here in Canada and therefore making this WOE even easier...I had tried the Zone but it was too much thinking for me...haha

I tried a modified Atkins over a year ago and couldn't stick it out because it didn't have the food variety I wanted.

This January I had a friend that hooked me on BFL... not low carb in the sense that Atkins is but many people combine the low-carb and BFL exercise portion.

It's been a great change for me. I've finally found an exercise program that I like (and have stuck with) and have a variety of food. AND I get to eat six times a day and one day a week I have a free day. How can it get any better?

Hope you find the program that works for you... Good luck.

Of the specific written plans out there, I love Protein Power LifePlan; I think adequate protein consumption is very important in addition to keep carbs low.

I'm on Atkins, but it sounds like you may want to look into the South Beach diet. I saw the creator on the TV over the weekend, and he talked about how fruit was important on this diet.

Thanks everyone for your input. I started today and decided to go with Atkins at least for a couple of weeks of Induction. I think I need something simple to get me going.

Best of luck to you all with your plans.

Nancy
