Home from Hospital . . .

Hi, everyone!

It has been a while since I posted.

About 2 weeks ago, I found out that I had to have surgery to remove a lump from my breast. Talk about a huge shock. My mom had breast cancer at 40, so even though I'm much younger, I was really worried. Luckily, the lump was BENIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to be OK, but needless to say, I've not been "low carbing it" for about 2 weeks. I don't even know what I weigh, but it was good that I'd lost weight b/c my pulse and BP were "ideal" during the surgery and afterwards, which they would not have been at my old weight.

I'm just writing to let everyone know that, despite the stitches and bandages, I'm OK and will be restarting the LC WOE on Monday.

It may be hard, but everything is relative!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and know that I'm grateful to be alive (and back on the forum).

Sue

I'm glad to hear that you are OK. You will definately find the support needed if you do find it hard to get back to LC.

Oh thank goodness it was benign! I have lumps too but its a condition, I forgot the name, that only flares up during that TOM. I know how scared you felt, my grandmother died of breast cancer. I sure hope you are at ease now and will continue with your LCing and good going on having lost enough that you were actually fine for the surgery.

Such good news that it turned out benign.

We are glad to have you back. How great is it that lowcarbing put you in a better state of health to go through that!

Thanks, everyone!

I AM glad to be back. Rocky, I was super scared. Even though I'm really young for breast cancer, my mom had it at 40, so I was really frightened. Talk about a reality check . . . .phew!

The weight gain due to carbs wasn't as bad as it could've been. I know I couldn't control what I got in IV drips, and I really just didn't have the energy to fight the hospital folks or figure out what to eat this past week. But, overall, after 2 weeks of carbs, I only gained 3 pounds. I thought it'd be 10, for sure, so this is "doable." :D

I count myself really lucky! And, even though I'm still in some pain, everything looks possible, if you know what I mean. I'm just so grateful! :-)

Tomorrow, I've got a half day of classes. Then, my friend is going to take me to the store and help me shop for food. My fridge ran away with itself while I was recovering!

Anyhow, I'm gonna go rest some more (I seem really good at that, lately!).

Thanks for all the support and kind words. I'll talk to you all soon.

Sue
