Sodium?

Question for you all, how much sodium do you get a day and what is too much?

I think if you have no blood pressure issues it doesn't really matter.

Asking for bloating, retaining water issues

I have a question about this too... are pickles okay during induction? Without really thinking about it I had about 4 small pieces of 'tart dill pickle chips'. Everything in them was pretty much at 0g except for the 1g of carbs only if you ate 20 chips of them. I noticed the sodium and it was in the 200mg range... is that wayy too much? I know I won't be touching them until I know more about that... i sure don't want to be retaining any water and adding pounds for a few days..

If I was strong willed enough I would start a NO-SALT for a week challenge. JUST to see if I would loose some water weight/retain less. Kinda makes me think.

Your body needs between 1,000 and 2,000 mgs of sodium per day...and FYI, a serving of our beloved pork rinds has a whopping 1,500 mgs of sodium! Excess sodium causes water weight gain-believe me, I know, I have gained 2 lbs in two days. Some people gain even more, just from excess salt.

addictmeHM Thu, May-06-04 20:05

that salt weight comes back off after it leaves the system, right?

immediately, i do recommend water loading though. drink a whole gallon if you have to. it relieves that "stuffed" feeling in a few hours.

goodto know thanks!

I don't count my salt intake but I do use lite salt. I figure if I need to salt my food, I rather not increase my sodium. Lite salt tastes like regular salt and it is made from potassium.
