Typical Weight Loss
Question for all of you pros. What was your typical weight loss during induction? One more question. I eat breakfast, skip lunch and eat dinner? Ok? Or not ok?
|
Typical weight loss is a tough topic.
If you have 200lbs to lose and have been living a REAL bad lifestyle, you might lose up to 25lbs on induction. If you have 35lbs to lose and have been living a healthy lifestyle, you might lose 4lbs. Also, it depends on your level of activity. If you exercise 90min/day on induction, you will lose a lot more than if you don't exercise at all. As for your eating schedule, that's not ok. You should have between 3 and 6 meals everyday to keep your metabolism up. If you skip lunch, your metabolism will slow down to a crawl until you eat again. The point is to keep your metabolism up all day long so even if you're not exercising, your body is still using calories. My experience: I had ~80lbs to lose and had been living a poor lifestyle. I went on induction and did 30min of working out everyday. I lost 19lbs in 2 weeks. |
Thanks for the response. I guess you're right about the topic and about my eating schedule. I guess I will have to start eating something during lunch and start my workout again.

I lost only 5.6 lbs on 2 weeks of induction, but this is also 3rd time I'm doing Atkins. The 1st time I did Atkins, I lost 10lbs within the first 2 weeks.

i lost 14lb in the first week, then this week (my second week) I have lost nothing yet, permenantly in ketosis, but am not worried after reading the comments on here...
all the best.. Tony p.s. the exercise regime starts next week, wont be able to do alot because of work and busy family commitments (they're 5 and 2) but will try for 1/2 hr per day |
i try to eat something about every three hours. i like to eat before i ever get hungry. maybe just a boild egg or a cheese stick.... but i dont skip meals. i have breakfast, brunch, lunch,
afternoon snack and diner... works for me still losing :) |
I would say you are going to probably witness your most rapid weight loss during the first week or so. For some it is huge, around 10, even 20 pounds during the first two weeks. I lost about 8.
|
I lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. And the 2 pounds/week has been fairly steady.
|
if you are not a lunch eater try having one or two snacks in the middle of the day....suggestions that worked for me when my schedule didn't permit lunch: half advocado, 1 1/2 oz macadamia nuts(i ate them on induction), half can tuna with mayo and jalapenos, or a hard boiled egg. i have a tough time eating breakfast (you mean coffee doesn't count??? :( ) so i have the eggs. the combo of fat/protien will help keep your fat burning, and energy levels up!
all the best :D |
I don't recommend skipping meals at least have a legal snack or something, you don't want to go to long in between meals and fall into starvation mode.
Good luck, |
Thank you all so much for your responses. TonyT1965, wow, 14lbs!!! That's great.
|
I lost 12-14lbs in the first 2 weeks. Stayed on Induction for a few months.
|
Wow, that's great DianaO, I'm really getting motivated here.
|
I lost 6 pounds the first two weeks but I only had 18 to lose and had been cutting back on carbs for awhile before I started. I didn't exercise due to an injury, but just restarted. Please don't skip lunch, so important to eat at least every 6 hours. Take some raw veggies to snack on if that is the least you can do.
|
I lost 12 the first two weeks, nothing the next week, and then 3 lbs. the next for a total loss of 15 lbs. the first month.
