Other forums??

Hello!

So I was somewhat active here about a year and a half ago - I lost about 25 lbs doing low-carb over a period of about 6 months, realized that it's not a sustainable way of life for me, and unfortunately have re-gained all the weight, plus 15 more (!!).

I've been looking at what would really be a sustainable way of eating for me, and am ready to start experimenting again.

My question is - I had found this forum really helpful, but I'm not really looking to be a strict low-carber. I know that I'd like to cut out refined sugar and flour, but want to include healthful grains and fruit in my diet. Does anyone know of a more appropriate forum where I could post - I do find the support SO great from people who've been there...

Or, would it be appropriate for me to post here, even though I'm not looking to follow the kinds of strict low-carb diets that folks here are into...?

Thanks!!

Try the sugar-busters section or South Beach. Both those allow more carbs than Atkins or Protein Power. Or how about CALP or CAD?

Take a look at the right side of this page under Quick Links & see if the "Which low carb plan is right for me?" helps you.

Otherwise, there are lots of weight-watchers boards on the net, or www.3fatchicks.com

There's also a section for semi-low carbers. Not sure how frequented it is...but worth a shot!!!

I basically do my own thing...started with Atkins - lost 40 lbs...but now I have added some foods; eliminated others; and find that I must eat frequently - smaller meals - stay away from frankenfoods (bars, SF candy, etc) and watch calories (1500-1700 max). I also feel that now I must move...not necessarily traditional exercise - but I must be active. Needless to say...my losses have always been slow...so I am happy with my 2-4 lb loss per month at this time. I like the fact that I can be flexible with my eating (enjoying fruit, whole grains, beans and lower carb products on the market). I think if you cut back on carbs and watch the calories you will lose without having to conform to a strict regimin/plan like Atkins.

Yvonne, this is what I have done too. I did not do induction on Atkins, etc. Just cut my carbs and ate 5 meals a day and have lost 64 lbs. I would even eat some fruits, would have popcorn at a matinee instead of my lunch, etc. I plan to continue it this way since it is so simple and I too lose about 2 - 4 lbs. in a month which makes me perfectly happy.
