I'm Smoking More!
I've been on the Intervention phase (30g carbs/day) of the Protein Power Lifeplan for 4 weeks and am starting Transition (55g carbs/day) today. My carb weaknesses were pasta and chocolate, and I'm pleased that I no longer crave these things.
I've been smoking for almost 30 years and quitting is next on my list of things to do for a healthier lifestyle. But I noticed that I'm smoking more than usual! I used to smoke 10 to 15 cigarettes/day, but I'm up to 20 or more during this last week. I'd like to blame it on added stress at work or something similar, but nothing has changed in my life except for my eating habits. Have any of you had this happen? |
YES!
I know what you mean I have stopped smoking now because my intake went from 20 a day to 30/40 a day very very quickly during LC/stress Where I used food before and smoking - i used smoking As smoking and eating are opposites and different, I can finally control both. Hopefully :) |
I was at one pack a day for many years. Began LC-ing and smoking went up to 2 pks a day. Time for a change :)

My smoking has also doubled since I started Atkins.
I was at 1/2 pack a day, and am now up to a full pack a day (somedays maybe slightly more). I don't want to stop smoking at this point, though, because I am unsure what effect it will have on the weight loss. I have decided that I will quit once I hit my goal weight, but that sounds like I am just procrastinating. Any ideas on how to quit smoking without gaining weight? Andy |
Some say cold turkey, some say smoke away and people like moi use the patch, hehehe. Im on day 6 now.
Best of luck :) Angel |
When I first started atkins I stopped smoking at the same time, and it was pretty hard. When I started smoking again I was smoking more than I was before I quit. I started smoking medium sized cigars instead of cigs. One Cigar woud last me the entire day and I got to the point where I never inhaled any of the smoke. I still ocasionaly puff on a cigar but I never inhale.

wow, I'm glad its not me thats started smoking ridiculous amounts since starting LC'ing!
I plan to give up once I reach goal (i'm getting close now).. I just hope I don't put loads back on once I do  |
I did give up the patch tho. Didn't wanna but had to cause of the BAD side effects I got. Im one of those "rare" as they put it, people that is alergic.Pfffffft.. Day 20 now :)

I had quit smoking for 15 months when in April, I thought it would be a good idea to try out a cigarette...anyway, needless to say Saturdays turned into weekdays (one to two a day) then it got to a whole pack on a weekend...and then to a pack a day on the weekend plus the couple I would have everyday.
Anyway...SUNDAY...I gave it up again. Hopefully this time will work better....it has made this week LCing a bugga though... I've been LC since Jan and this week has been the hardest! |
