miller lite and soy burgers?

hello. since it's lent, i can't eat meat on fridays. after hearing about the low-carb soy burgers, i tried them and really like them. but i haven't lost any weight since good friday! i exercise 30 to 60 minutes a day and drink 8 glasses of water. and i also eat enough veggies.

of course, it might also be the miller light i have been chugging once a day. it's only 3.5 carbs!

i haven't gained any weight, but i haven't lost any either.

also, has anyone tried keto ice cream? can i have the chocolate one (2 carbs per serving) while on induction?

I can't seem to keep losing weight on induction. it's like my body gives up after the first week.

to sum it up: can i stay on induction if i keep under 20 carbs per day, no matter where the carbs come from (i.e. miller light and low carb ice cream)?

Short answer: no.

While you are induction, you should eat only the foods found on the Atkins acceptable foods list. It's in the book or on the Atkins website - here's a link. It's very important that you read the book so you understand why this is important. You should not have Keto ice cream or low carb beer while on induction - part of the purpose of induction is to break your former eating habits.

Beyond that, soy can cause some people to stall. Instead of substituting a processed soy product for meat on Fridays, try fish or seafood instead. You could also browse the vegetable recipes on the Atkins website - it will tell you which ones are suitable for induction.

Good luck!

I eat soy burgers, sausage, bacon daily. Sometimes more than once a day. It's never slowed my weight loss. Beer and whiskey always stalled me though.

The beer is not a good idea. It may be low carbs but it still has alcohol in it and your body will burn alcohol before it burns fat or anything else.

With regard to Fridays in Lent, if you Catholic you may be allowed fish, if you are Orthodox you may have to try soy products. You could always live on veggies for a day but include some pancakes make with soy flour and vegan egg substitute.

I have had no problems eating soy based stuff and I eat it pretty often. Just check the package because not all soy burgers are low!

also quorn makes some non soy based vegetarian 'meat' that is delicious so that might be an option too.

HI!

I switched to eating more soy products--burgers, crumbles, sausage--this week in an effort to start eating less beef (preference) and less processed meat (sausage, cold cuts, etc.) and to up my "good fats" like olive oil, avocado, small amounts of nuts, etc. (because of very high Cholesterol) while lowering the % of fat I get from animal products.

I LIKE soy stuff a lot AND after slow weight loss for 2-3 weeks, I've lost 5 pounds this week!!! :-)

I'm still eating chicken, fish, and beef (once a week) whenever I want, but I'm subbing the other stuff, which I prefer to beef and most pork (except ham. I'm a sucker for ham  ), and the weight is just coming off like crazy.

I've found that soy HELPS my weight loss, but BEER, sadly, stalls me out. I've been beer-free from over 2 months . . . sigh. Interestingly, a small glass of red wine (full of those good anti-oxidants for your heart! :yay: ) does NOT stall me. Something to think about.

Good luck whatever you decide! If you want to swap soy or Lent stories (or recipes) I'm with ya! I've given up "lc candy" for Lent . . . and that one's a doozie!

Sue
