Paris' Gym Log - From Flab to Fab!

I am a complete wimp. I have no idea how to exercise... is that pathetic? I remember being pretty active a kid and now... well, I think parking far from the grocery and walking a few extra steps should count as moderate aerobic activity.

I am hoping that this log will change all of that.

Right now I am working with my Walk Away the Pounds 2-Mile DVD. I use the 2 pounds weights with it, but not really count that toward any kind of strength training. I have a few free weights (5, 8 & 10 pounds) but have very little idea what to do with them. I am completely cluless (as I said above!).

Goal #1 --- Start: February 23. End: March 23.

Complete the WATP 2-Mile video with weights at least 4 times per week.
Research free weight strength/repetions/moves.
Create a free weight program to follow at home.
Move more.

 Paris

February 23, 2003 ---

I could not even think of popping Leslie in and doing the same moves I did the other day. Instead I decided to take advantage of the "nice" weather and take a walk.

I walked briskly for 25 minutes today and managed to jog for about 2 minutes of the 25 (this is HUGE for me).

I will love on Leslie tomorrow and also get some crunches in and maybe a few yoga stretches as my back is killing me.

Ok, I am taking today off. I feel icky and I have a ton of errands to run with a friend this evening after dinner.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and exercise time is also a good time to pray! ;)

Walk Away the Pounds 2-Mile DVD with 2 pound weights
15 crunches
Various yoga-inspired stretches

I am feeling pretty good. I didn't have too much trouble with the DVD today; I kept up and was not strained.

I feel like a slug. I can still make my goal by working out tomorrow and Sunday. I will do it!

Paris Fri, Feb-27-04 18:30

Nada on the exercise today... too busy reading the Protein Power books. :D

Paris Sun, Feb-29-04 07:46

Me = slug. I did not meet my goals this week. :(

Paris Wed, Mar-24-04 10:23

The slug is back! Well, kinda. My exercise goals are so very modest now... and I am still not meeting them completely. :(

Monday - 5 minutes upper body weight training (so outta shape! I thought I'd die if I went longer).

Tuesday - window shopping - 2676 steps on the pedometer.

Wednesday - more upper body weight training (at least 10 minutes).

Props for my hubby! This AM he did 30 minutes of pilates. I will be joining him tomorrow. :)

:yay: WTG Paris!! Keep it up GF!! :yay:

Paris Wed, Mar-24-04 21:25

Nothing today... the only exercise I wanted to do was to walk to Giant Eagle for trigger food.

Needless to say I am quite happy that I refrained from such exercise. :D

Paris Fri, Mar-26-04 08:45

I made progress in my exercise goals yesterday!

I finally went over to the aquatic center to get the water aerobic schedule. Barring any problems getting a leisure card, I will begin water aerobics Tuesday and will continue going twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (or evenings if I wanna sleep late :D )!

Paris Mon, Mar-29-04 09:31

3 sets - 12-10-8 reps with 8-pound free weights
Standing Bent-Over One-Arm Dumbbell Triceps Extension
Standing Two-Arm Bicept Curls
Front Two-Arm Dumbbell Raises

Calisthenics
2 sets 10 pilates-inspired v-crunches
10 modified push-ups
15 legs lifts on each leg
25 jumping jacks
Yoga-inspired stretching

Total time = 15 minutes
