here's my daily menu..what am I doing wrong?

Ok..I'm getting frustrated.
I started the atkins diet 8 days ago. I've lost 3 pounds, but I gained three to begin with, so I guess I really haven't lost anything. (I have lots to lose, so I thought it would be easier)
Anyhow...here is what I've been eating.
here is a daily total.

about 7 pieces of bacon
Chicken salad (with full fat mayo and old bay spice)
3 cups of salad
oil and vinegar
4 oz of cheese
baked chicken

I do drink lots and lots of water and allow myself a diet sprite.

of course, it is broken up throughout the day and not just one big meal.

any suggestions? I'm tempted to switch diets. On a low fat diet, I would have lost about 7 pounds by now.
I gain weight with each pregnancy and it takes a while to come off but it does. Thought I would try a low carb thing this time.

I have a 9 month old baby and I"m still in maternity clothes.

hey don't give up yet. Try switching your menu up. Do you eat that everyday? I've lost a total of 12 pounds in about 3 weeks, i'm happy with that because i'm still losing. I would love to lose faster (like you said on a low-fat diet) but any low fat diet i have ever been on, i was starving and miserable. So how bout trying an omelette in the morning with mozz. cheese or two eggs and two slices of bacon. Have you tried the LC shakes or bars? check out the kitchen section for some great recipes for induction. they have great breakfast ideas all easy to do. the only thing i can say is maybe cut the sald down to two cups and maybe add some more protein throughout your day. dont be afraid to spice things up either. your food does not have to be bland it is suppose to taste good. Make sure you are reading the labels on everything you are eating.

Best of luck to you

I hate eggs :(
I know it would be so much easier if I didn't. I don't eat that everyday, but that is what I had yesterday.
Thanks so much for your ideas!

I didn't check calories, but is it possible you aren't getting enough?
Perhaps your body is going into starvation mode.

It is definitely based on what you used to put into it before.

I'd cut out the daily bacon and/or the diet pop, possibly replacing the bacon with a nice, solid sausage once in a while (check ingredients, first), or tuna salad, sardines, or some other "outside the box" breakfast choices.

Use some of the salad carbs to spice up the chicken salad, adding jicima, daikon, celery, radish, watercress, sprouts, etc., to make it more interesting.

Don't be afraid of spices, as long as the mixture doesn't contain extra sugar.

Shred some cheese on your salad, rather than eating it in a block.

Make sure you take your vitamins and drink way more water than you ever thought possible.

Are your stats put in correctly???

7 pc bacon is a lot of sodium.

Have you treid the Mock danish for breakfast, it is eggs, but very different.Check out the recipe section for it.

Don't cut your veggies! Keep the 3 cups of salad and add more veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, cucumber, zucchini, celery...

I think you need more food. Doesn't seem like enough.

Change your stats by going to 'profile' at the top and then 'profile' again in the grey bar. It should be start weight/current weight/goal weight.

Take care and stick with it!! It really does work! Loads of water, vitamins/supplements, lots of veggies and fat. Sometimes it's hard to wrap your mind around being allowed to eat so much fat after low fat dieting, but you will get the hang of it! Try reading other people's journals and lots of posts to get some ideas!

Check out www.fitday.com it can be really helpful with planning your menu and seeing where you are lacking in fat, protein etc.
Good luck!
