I survived my first cheat...

And while I'm not proud of myself, these things happen. My husband and I spit a calzone last night. I couldn't bring myself to eat all that crust, so I cut the top and the thickest parts off. It wasn't that bad. I have maybe an extra half a pound on the scale this morning and I also did alot of weight training yesterday.

The bad part of the cheating was the hunger! Where I would have normally been satiated for the night, instead I was starving half an hour later. Expect a clean day from me today...
Just had to confess my guilty soul ;)

I havn't had a "cheat" yet. A lil scared to even ponder it since I have read about how so many people felt sick, tired etc afterwards.
The only food I really think about is my old fav banana in the morning. NOW that is what I drool about when my kids eat them, lol.

So, you ate a little of something you should not have....no big deal. That was one instance and you found you did not like the way you felt afterwards and that has its own reward. Having done that you can use that information to help guide your choices if this temptation comes again. Just beware it may come sooner than you think! I was successful in losing 70 lbs. on Atkins 7 years ago and then decided I would eat refined carbs on a holiday here, on a birthday there. Yes, I felt yucky each time but before I knew it I was finding more reasons to go off plan and then one day I realized I had gone a week off plan. Getting back on was close to impossible because the carb monster had ahold of me again. Short story, I gained my weight back. This time no "off plan" foods at all. But, each person knows their self best.

So don't feel guilty just feel informed that now you have confirmed once again that this WOL is for the best for you.

Congratulations!!!!

I think a turning point in this diet can be when you "cheat" and it isn't the end of the world, you didn't fall of the wagon and regain everything and then some, you don't follow it up with 'I've already screwed up, I'll eat candy!' approach.

In fact, you should be even happier becuase even when you 'cheated' you cheated with some sense - minimizing the effect by removing the crust etc.

AND you don't feel entirely like you 'got away with it' and will fall into a pattern of doing it - becuase you felt crap.

So, congrats!

I know that I should respond saying, well, at least you didn't eat the whole thing and you knew you were cheating and will get back on the program today. However, that does not work for me ~ I can't cheat ~ my Catholic background from childhood would haunt me and make me feel too guilty ~ ~ I have to stay on the straight and narrow ~ and so far, temptation has not been a problem for me. I have no desire to cheat ~ I get plenty of good food and it satifies me completely.
