Do any of you use decaf tea as water...

I was just measuring out the amount of water I should be drinking everyday and must say I was alittle surprised. My bathroom glass isn't as big as I thought it was! lol I know I can get the water in IF I can use some of the intake in the form of decaf tea. I could count it in weight watchers...and some other plans. Do any of you use that and count it?

Still waiting for my CALP book...I sure hope I didn't get taken. (It was an ebay purchase. :nono: )

The problem with some decaf teas is they can be a duretic. They can dehydrate you isntead of rehydrate you like water can. I know green tea and many herbal teas have this effect.

The minute you put anything in water...the body recognizes it as food and it follows a different, digestive, process.

If you find a decaf tea that lists its caffeine content compared to regular tea, you will find that it has 5 mg of caffeine per cup. The decaf process does not completely remove all caffeine, even from coffee. It, indeed, will dehydrate a person.

Hi Karen--I drink decaf herbal teas sometimes (with nothing added) during the day, with no bad effect.. BUT--I don't count it as water. As the others said--you might want to add an extra bit of water to your total oz. for the day, if you're having any other drinks... :)
