Low carb milk shakes

Remember the milk shakes you used to get in those old fashioned diners? The ones served in those metal blender jars? Or even the drive through ones aren't bad.

Has anyone had any luck recreating milk shakes? Really looking for that lovely creamy milk shake (chocolate or strawberry!) flavor rather than a protein shake or a smoothie.

Got any ideas?

Maybe down the road I'll start thinking of Ice Cream Sodas....

I was thrilled that the burger joints are serving their stuff without buns, now if they'd just fix the milk shakes I'd be in heaven.

I second that! I would love to replicate a real thick milkshake. Any ideas... I am sure with the protein powder something could be done. Or maybe with the CarbCountdown Milk and the expensive LC ice cream... that would work.... Anybody already making them and have some recipes?

United Dairy Farmers Offering
Low Carb Shakes and Ice Cream:

United Dairy Farmers (UDF), a chain of convenience dairy stores based in Cincinnati, Ohio has begun offering low carb shakes and ice creams at their ice-cream parlor locations.

The ice creams come in at 2 net carbs for Vanilla, 6 net carbs for Caramel Royale, and 4 net carbs for Double Chocolate. The big frosty shakes come in at 12 net carbs.

All are made with their new low carb Homemade Brand Ice Cream –– an exclusive of UDF. We found them all quite delicious! UDF Stores are located across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky (you can find your nearest location at their site.)

I make the ziplock bag ice cream and pour that in a cup. I just use a spoon to stir it in the cup and then drink it.

Some carb countdown milk would work fine.

Last time I used 1tsp vanilla extract made with glycerine. 1tsp unsweetened cocoa and just spilled in some DaVincis English Toffee Syrup to taste (just happened to be the first one I grabbed)

it came out really great!

I am sure you can add some carb countdown milk to it if you want more though it would make it a bit runnier than I like it. The carb countdown chocolate milk might go great if you are trying to make a chocolate shake. Just shake the cream in the bag a bit longer so it gets harder.

Wow... great ideas!

I bought some of that chocolate syrup sweetened with spenda. Ugh... it is hideous. But maybe mixed with the shake it would be so bad. I'd hate to ruin a good shake that way though.

I bet Breyer's low carb ice cream with Hood's low carb milk would work just fine. If it wasn't -16F today, I'd go make a vanilla shake.....

I go to Dayton frequently on bizness, next time I'll stop at a UDC and check out one of the shakes.

Too bad Steak and Shake doesn't do a low carb banana shake!
