CBC Venture - January 4, 2004

Venture is having a special on the business of low carbing this Sunday. They came to tape one of my cooking classes as part of it so there will be snippets of the class as well as interviews with some of the class members.

That's great Karen! I'm going to go see what time it's on. I really want to see that!

Ghost Sat, Jan-03-04 11:18

Here in Ontario it is on channel 5 (on Rogers Cable) CBLN at 2:30 in the afternoon. I can't wait to watch it! :)

My daughter just told me Venture is on again at 10:30 in the evening on the same channel.

I saw the piece they had on Venture. I wish I was in the Vancouver area to take one of your classes Karen. I like cooking and wouldn't mind trying some new things. For now I'll continue to experiment at home with recipes I find on here.

I thought it was kind of funny they started off with low carb and the next segment was on fast food chain lawsuits over fat and calorie content of their food.

Rats! I missed it. Venture's not something I usually watch, but hopefully there will be a heads up if anyone knows it's repeating.

I saw Venture last night & it was a good piece. I thought it a bit strange too how they ended it with the fast food law suits considering the suits are all basted on high fat.

Karen, your cooking classes look like like fun. I wish I could attend one. DH & I want to take a vaction out west. When we do hopefully you will be teaching a class.

It was, but they were showing two sides of the coin. What I thought was kind of dumb, was showing the plate full of protein. It's like showing a plate of cooked, naked pasta on a show about carb eating! Whenever I do any print media, I always make sure that there are a LOT of vegetables and maybe even a sauce!

Will the media ever learn?

You bring up a good point. A lot of people seem to think all we eat is eggs, bacon, meat, cheese, oil, butter...I do eat a lot of vegetables but I stick to those which are lower in carbs. There was that one guy on the show who put vegetables as a bigger priority on the food chain and put the bread and potatoes to the side.

And you bring up sauces Karen...I really should look into finding some sauce recipes. I think I will make that my project for my next day off. yum
