Exercise during induction?

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, & today is my 1st day of Atkins induction.

Would 30 mins per day on my exercise bike sound reasonable during induction? As I'm new, I really don't know what to expect in terms of energy during the first couple of weeks.

I've read somewhere that a lot of people tend to skip exercise during the induction phase due to lack of energy? It'd be great to hear of your experiences & advice.

Thanks,

Z

You should get your energy up after the first couple of days just make sure you are taking your supplements that helps alot... you body just has to adjust quick and then you will have so much energy... and no exercise is bad exercise do what works for you =)

Thank you that reminds me, I must start taking my supplements today. I almost forgot! I was too busy planning what I'm going to eat today! LOL

I think I'll maybe skip the exercise for the first couple of days & ease myself into it gently. See how it all goes...

How's everyone else going with exercise & induction?

Dr. A says "exercise is non-negotiable". Personally, I think it helped me lose inches even though the weight loss was slow. Also helped reshape my body. I am not a "gym-rat", BTW. I just use a treadmill and exercise bike at home, and try to exercise 30-45 mins, three or four times a weeks. Some swear by tough routines...whatever works for you is what you should do. And I started off slowly on Induction. I think if you do too much, too fast, you are more likely to just quit altogether. Some folks say they have never exercised and have been very successful. Again, whatever works for you.

Hi and welcome to the forum I started 30 mins on the exercise bike about a week after I started induction like icadelai said your tired at first. After 2 months I am doing 30 mins on bike, 30 mins on row machine and 30 mins of weights and I will be adding 30mins of walking all 5 days a week and I feel like a million bucks.

Thanks so much for all of your feedback! I managed to do 30 mins on the bike during my first day of induction without any problems. I guess the next couple of days are going to be a lot tougher, so I'll probably take it easy & wait for the energy levels to rise again. Anyway, so far I'm doing good! Just got to remember - drink plenty of water!

:) I started out on the induction in October. I didn't start to work out for about a week. Then the second week I started a 20 min. low impact aerobics. Of course I couldn't do a lot of it without being outta breath. And that first week about killed me, but it slowly got better and then all of the sudden I couldn't stop. Now I can do the entire workout 5 days a week and I walk a mile 6 days a week. I feel great.
Just take it slowly and don't rush so as not to cause injury. Eventually it gets easier and easier.:) BTW, I don't know if anyone else notices this, but I can consume more carbs working out and still lose weight.
