Opinions Please? Re Manual Treadmill?

I am thinking of buying a foldable manual treadmill at Real Canadian Superstore here in BC. The price is $129.99 and it *looks* pretty sturdy, has some gauges to measure speed etc... Has anyone ever bought or used one of these? I can't afford a fancy one, so thought this might be OK. Thanks for your input! :)

Here is my opinion. If that is what you can afford and it will get you exercising than I say go for it. I have an electric one (lucked out it was given to me) and I am now walking and I wasn't before. So if you think it will do the trick. Get it and walk. Should work fine. Merry Christmas

Treadmill?

Hi Jean
I have bought one of those manual ones at a thrift store. Thought I was going to really enjoy it, BUT

it is much more work than the electric ones- not just a little! but a lot! See if you can try one out before you buy- that would be my suggestion.

I had a manual treadmill and gave it away. I was scared to death to use it. The problem I had was. (bare with me, I hope I can explain this so you understand). The track that you run/walk on would slide around on me. If I pushed off on my feet to hard it would slip and I would almost fall on my face if I didn't grab on to the bars. It also sliped from side to side. So get on it if possible and see how well it really is. For me, I won't buy another manual one. I'm really wanting a new one, but can't afford the expensive type either. Check it out before you buy it.

I honostly don't think that these are very good. They are harder to work than meets the eye. Maybe try a bike or one of those gazelle things. I don't think that they are too expensive and are much user friendly. I have an electric one that I bought for about $500.00 6 years ago and I love it.

You could also try to buy a used one.
