somthing cool with La Tortilla
this morning I so wanted toast with my eggs. I stuck an origional flavor small La Tortilla in the toaster oven and set it to toast. I turned it over a couple of times because they seem kind of damp, I was finishing up the eggs and looked again and the steam inside had poofed it up to a ball. It was nicely browned on the outside and after I let it cool a bit I cut it carefully with a steak knife (not laying it flat I didn't want to squash it) I made pita pockets with my eggs this morning!!! The tortilla is crispy around the edges. I bet if I left it in a little longer it would get crunchy like those bagel chips you can buy. I might try that next time.

Good price at Trader Joe's
I believe $1.79 for a pack of 6. I love these in the morning. Slice of cheese and some sliced meat and out the door in a couple of minutes. Perfect for a guy who never used to eat breakfast because it took too long.

1.79 for a pack of 6? I buy a pack of 10 and pay $6 a pack!
I make chips out of the tortillas but you need to be careful since they tend to burn pretty quick. I brush olive oil over them. They are really good. They also puff like that when you fry them in a frying pan and really good if you use the whole what ones with butter and splenda and then add some butter to the inside. Kinda like puff pastry.... welll.... sorta |
$2.99 for a 10 pack of small ones or 8 pack of lage ones at Safeway. $1.49 for a 6 pack at Trader Joe's. I use them to make my own personal pan pizza. Even took a couple with me to some friends house who invited us over for homemade pizza and a movie the other night. Worked great.

Trader Joes on east coast
I know there are a couple of Trader Joes in Penn. I believe one is in West Chester. Go to http://www.traderjoes.com/locations.../NEW+JERSEY.asp to see if there is one near you.
