EviL office workers and their damn donuts!

Why do people insist on bring dozens of donuts to work, especially when no less than 4 of the 20 or so people in the office are doing Atkins? I just don't get it. Thankfully they weren't Krispy Kreme's and I was able to resist... this time. If they had been sugar or glazed KK's I would have caved.

...because of the 16 or so who aren't?

It seems cruel, doesn't it? Especially in the Christmas-cookie season... Try to keep something legal on hand to ward off the evil doughnuts!

I make sure I eat breakfast every morning and that makes it so much easier to "just say no thank-you."

I don’t think they do it on purpose but who knows. I already lost two fellow LC co-workers to the evil Krispy Kreme and I work in a medical building

Think of it as a challenge.
The donuts vs. you.

If you don't eat them then you're a 2 time winner. ou neat the donuts and you'll lose weight!

If someone brings something to the office that is high-carb, such as doughnuts, I simply take one, say thank you then go into my office and throw it into the trash. It saves me from having to explain that I'm dieting and from having to defend myself from the "go on and have one - one won't hurt" speech from co-workers.

Krispy Kremes would do me in to.

A funny story: Years ago my mom was doing Atkins for the first time. She couldn't have been doing as well as she was telling my dad because, she snuck out of the house at 1:00 in the morning, drove down the street to a little convenience store that sells Krispy Kremes. She gets pulled over by a cop on the way home because she was swerving (sp?) all over the road. He thought she was drunk, she was just gobbling up the donuts before she got back home!!!

I figure it is genetics and that is why I have such a hard time turning them down, too!

Just look at those nasty things and think ((poison))..haha!

Fortunately we tend to only have morning meetings so I just put my hand on my stomach, grimace and say "Damn, donuts today? I had a huge breakfast." That usually gets them to leave me alone. The rare pizza lunches I have a built-in excuse: I'm allergic to dairy and no one wants a cheeseless pizza. :)

Every Friday at our work we have bagels and donuts.... Everyone is like why cant you have a bagel, just dont put anything on it..... Well I can have the cream cheese and butter.....doh!! We have a fridge in the kitchen break room and I go to the health food store every once in a while and will get low carb bagels and keep them in the freezer so I can participate now and then, but usually I eat breakfast and say I am already full.

From the last couple of weeks before Halloween through the end of the year my office almost always has little bowls of candy lying around wherever you turn. To help combat these temptations, I bought a few bags of the SF hard candies made by Baskin Robbins and Lifesavers and keep them in my desk. Whenever I start feeling tempted I just suck on one of these and I am fine.

delilah Thu, Dec-04-03 15:27

my stepmom used to be addicted to german chocolate cake. her method of getting away from it is disgusting, but it helped her. I only tend to use it if I'm really desperate.

Basically, she imagined it had maggots or something else horrible in it.

Apologies for the gross visualization, but.. well.. whatever works, right??

GREYTSCOT Thu, Dec-04-03 16:13

You should keep a couple of lc sf snack bars at work for emergencies (or candies like chef). Also, although I'd seen people raving about Mock Danish for weeks I'd never tried it until recently. OMG, you should make a couple of these and keep them in the fridge at work. Then when the donuts arrive, mike your mock danish to warm it over and delight in the sinful sweet and creamy flavor. Way better than a donut AND you know it's good for you!

Krispy Kremes would definitely do me in. That is a hard tempation to resist! Good for you for saying no. I don't know why office workers do that. Maybe they feel guilty for not eating healthy, and somehow those treats help them feel better? Just kidding. I'm glad I don't work in an office that does that! That would be so hard. I work at home or at my husband's store, and he never eats stuff like that so it's never around. Thank heaven!

Mock Danish? Where do I find that?
