vegetarian substitute for meat?

I just noticed there are a couple of days this month that I have to keep to a vegetarian diet due to a certain medicine I have to take. I don't want to stop induction because I'm getting good results. Are there any vegetarian foods that I can substitute for meat protein on those days?

Good Question

Hello Leborland. I have no idea personally. Just started a few days ago myself. Anyway, welcome, and let me know if you get an answer to your question.

Hello! You bet there is, depending on where you live. If you're in the US or Canada, they're easily found at grocery stores. Ask for the vegetarian products, if you can't find them. They're usually made from soy. Just make sure you read the labels carefully: some contain grain and are very carby. :exclm: Choose those that have the lowest carb count.

Feel free to check out our vegetarian forum for more info.

How do I use these vegetarian products and still stay on induction? Do you eat less of the other stuff to keep your carbs down to 20, or do you keep the regular diet and just substitute vegetarian for meat products and try to keep the carbs as low as possible? If I go over 20, doesn't it mean that I broke the induction part of the diet?

eggs, cheese, nuts, bocca burgers, veggie sausages, seeds all provide protein, fat and are lwo carb.

...no nuts or seeds on induction. :exclm:

Yes, you can go a little over 20 for the substitutions. You'll still be in ketosis. If you tried to keep it below 20, you'd probably have to cut out veggies and that's not a good option. I'd say try to keep it at about 25.
