another type 1.5 question

Hi again,

Sorry for all the questions but this is still new to me.

OK... so I see the new doctor, I like him a lot better, and he agrees that I am most liikely type 1.5. (we have to transfer my records and then do the work but he at least has heard of it) So.... what now. He said the Glucophage is still the best med to be on, but I have been reading the Dr. Schwarzbien book who says that it is dangerous to have your insulin levels too low. If I limit my carbs too the point I don't need insulin.... is that bad for me? Any thoughts?

actually, so far i've read the opposite on the web, that having your insulin level higher is dangerous. Drs Mercola and Rosedale point that the lower insulin is the longer life span. of course, if you can manage good BG control. i'm not big fan of too low carbs either. ;)

Glucophage has been around for more than 30 years, and if there is any danger, it is that you don't need meds in the first place. Don't go endangering your health by almost cutting carbs out...your liver will respond by pushing out more glucose...and you can't control your liver...it has a mind of it's own.
Glucophage/metformin only makes your body more sensitive to the insulin you make (or inject). A Type1 means that you are insulin dependent...are you on insulin..? What is your control like..? Eve
