Moments of Dizziness

Any of you get little moments of dizziness? I occasionally do.

I'm eating properly on the plan, a bit over on the 20 g of carbs.

Two-week induction point today. Lost 4 pounds and 2 inches. Could actually squeeze into my "thin" jeans today. And even breathe in them - ha!

A friend suggested the dizziness may be due to low blood suger, but not knowing much about that I sort of shrugged it off. Besides, not going to put suger into my body. Unless I absoltely have to.

Thanks all!

Shirley

No, not sugar, but I think you really should add some more carbs from the veggies, salad and fruit. If you are 146 poundsaand only 16 pounds from goal, a higher carb level would be a good idea. Look into the DANDR and see what things are 5-10 gms of carbs higher per day. You could add some berries or some higher carb vegetables - tomatoes.
Here's the Carbohydrate Ladder from the latest (red cover) DANDR - page 171- which tells you the order of foods to add back as you raise your carbs to find your CCLL:
1. more salad & other vegetables on the acceptable foods list.
2. fresh cheeses (as well as more aged cheese)
3. Seeds & nuts
4. berries
5 wine & other spirits low in carbs
6. legumes
7. fruits other than berries & melons
8. starchy vegetables
9. whole grains.

The idea is that this WOE changes from the drastic weight loss of Induction and gradually becomes a "lowish" carb way of eating where you still don't eat much in the way of starches, and only natural sugars. This is a plan for life, not a diet that one can go off.

One other thought, you state your age in your profile. If you are trying to get down to what you weighed in your 20's, you might want to rethink that goal number. An LCer tends to be higher in weight but smaller than a low fat/low cal dieter because LCing loses fat but not muscle. Go more by the fit of clothes than by the number on the scale.

Try using some No-Salt or Half-Salt on your food to add some potassium. That is also a need that shows up as dizziness or fatigue.

Do eat some veggie/salad carbs - your body is sending you a message that it NEEDS them.

I was getting dizzy and it was because I wasn't eating enough carbs. I upped by only a few carbs (5) and the dizziness pretty much went away. Also, sometimes when your body expels water too quickly, it can cause dizziness. To compensate, you should eat something with sodium in it or sea-salt therapy to slow down the water elimination process in your body.

Thanks so much for the replies.

Yes I'll begin upping the carbs a little.

And my low weight goal is just a number. I'm very much comfortable in my current body. And for me low carbing is all about how wonderful I feel. I carry my weight well. I do not advertise my weight, but those who ask can't believe I weigh 146.

Thanks again!

Are you eating enough period? Sometimes on this WOE ketosis makes you have no appitite. While you don't feel hungry your body still needs so many calories to function. Also are you taking suppliments. Many say the potassium/calcium/magnesium mix helps with dizzy spells.

For me I also have to eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. This makes my blood sugar levels much more even and means n o dizzy spells or other issues.

Oh yes, I'm eating enough. Actually I do 6 meals a day pretty much.

I think I need to up the carbs, although I probably average 25-30 a day.

And I've always just taken a base line vitamin - no minerals or extra stuff. I'm stopping on the way home today to pick up a multi with minerals as well. Currently I only take the base line daily vitamin, E, and chromium picolinate.

Thanks for the concern. The dizzy is not debilitating, just annoying. :)

Woe

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum -- not sure what WOE is. Can someone explain?

Thanks

WOE- Way of Eating. Also WOL- Way of Life.

The idea is that LC is not a just a "diet" to get off a couple extra pounds. It's a way of eating for life, not just to lose wieght, but also to improve health and wellness for life.

Hi Sbear--

Are you drinking enough water? The Atkins WOE produces a natural diuretic effect, and you need to constantly maintain your fluid volume. Before I added more carbs, I would consider adding a few more glasses to water to my daily ration. Can't hurt...might help!:)
