Question for anyone who had their thyroid removed..
 

Anyone ever have a popping feeling in your neck afterwards? Sort of like when your knees pop..?

I had my whole thyroid removed 3 or 4 years ago..Then I had a tumor removed in Janurary....I'm not sure if I had this popping thing going on before Janurary or not... but I know I've had it since Janurary atleast. It's not painful or a big deal, when I move my neck fast or all the way to the right... it just pops. Not all the time, but atleast once a day. I feel it sometimes when I burp too.

I called my dr a few months ago, left a message and he caleld back and my mom answered, said it wasn't anything to worry about.. But still... is it common? And what the heck is it. =/

Hi... I just had my thyroid removed this past May (tumor first then the whole thing due to cancer). I don't have a popping feeling but all my neck muscles tighten and the scar feels like it tightens from time to time. I'm sure that for me it's just scar tissue and the healing process. Maybe you have some scar tissue build up that streches and pops from time to time....it's known to happen.

I had mine out 5 years ago due to cancer. I can't recall the popping, but I wouldn't think it would be that unusual--things got moved around! As long as your dr. isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.

Now that tightness in the scar area, like jo was describing--that's just annoying isn't it?! :grrr It does go away though! Hang in there everyone! 5 years for me, and cancer free! YAY! :)

I had mine removed in 95 and I don't feel like my neck pops more than it did before the surgery.
