Is Dr b's book still available?
 

I went looking for Dr. Bernstein's book with no luck. I managed to talk my mom(type 2 ) into looking at it an to discuss with her Dr.. She has had triple bypass sugery,and now is diabetic. She can't get her BG down she is eating high carb Won't listen to me to limit or stop having potatoes,corn,bread and deserts. I need to find this book I believe it will save her life.

I agree with you, she needs this book as soon as possible. It seems that Amazon is waiting for the new edition, and when I checked, had no used ones. I checked abe books a few minutes ago, and they had some used copies of the previous edition. For about 18 or 20 dollars US. I didn't see any canadian suppliers, but there might be some. If you want me to check for you, let me know. I'm a librarian and pretty used to finding books. Cheers, Bill

DOn't know ANYTHING about Dr Berstein's book but I happened to have my message pushed over to this section (worried about my type II friend on Atkins who is having high blood sugar).

I found one of Dr Bernstein's books over at www.half.com
In the search box I put in Dr Bernstein and specified BOOKS in the drop down list to the left of the search box.
It gave me several answers and the one that had the book in stock was called: Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution: A Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars. If you haven't even used half.com before, the books are rated by their *in shape* condition. It looks like a HECK of a deal at $10.50 for one that is LIKE NEW and then there is one in GOOD condition for $9.50. If you sign up and buy it, tell them azsunsoaps sent ya (just remembered they are having a promotion). Half.com is a really good place to purchase used books and in many cases brand new ones. EVERY book I have received that says anywhere from Very good on up to BRAND NEW has arrived looking brand new. Most sellers conservatively rate their book.....HTH :)

I bought my copy of Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution off the shelf at Chapters bookstore. It's also availabe at www.chapters.indigo.ca and www.amazon.ca. Both places still have copies of the previous edition available, or you could wait a few weeks for the new revision. Both places also offer 30% off all books over $30 (Cdn) Right now both websites offer free shipping via Canada Post Express for orders over $39 (Cdn)

If you prefer not to order from the internet (I've always had prompt, problem-free service from both sites) Chapters store can order it for you, then you just pay them when it comes in. Takes longer though.

Not to worry. I'm sending Huntress my extra copy this morning. Let's hope her Mum becomes a convert!

Dr. Bernstein's revised book will be available in September from amazon.com. I purchased the one in print now for $4.99 from the same place. I checked by revision date and ordered a new book for that price.
