Actually, the carbs in Ice Cream vary considerably. Some are as low as 12g per 1/2 cup (Normal Ice Cream, not "No Sugar Added"), others are much higher. Strangely enough, the "No Sugar Added" Ice Creams tend to have just as many, if not more carbs [namely Maltodextrin which is 37 points higher on the GI than Sucrose] than Regular Ice Cream. Since the sugars are a mix of Lactose and Sucrose...Ice Cream is not that bad as an OCCASSIONAL treat, for those who don't needing to lose weight. Notice the keyword here is occassional. Regular Ice Cream or any other sugary food should never be a daily thing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention...keep away from the cones. They are not only made from Refined Grain (Carbs), they also contain Hydrogenated Soybean Oil (TRANS-FAT). The Grain will lower HDL (Good Cholesterol) and the Trans-Fats will further lower the HDL, while raising LDL (Bad Cholesterol). The cone will do more damage to your heart than the scoop of Ice Cream on top.
