Going camping: what to bring?

I'm flying up to Seattle on Friday with some friends then leaving Saturday to camp a couple hours away until Monday. We'll have a cooler for the meat but that's about it. Any thoughts on stuff to bring? I'm obviously not going to have a perfect eating schedule this weekend, but I'd like to avoid junk. I will try and buy some apples and maybe some other fruit before we camp. I am going to bring almonds and we will be bbqing. Any other ideas? I was thinking about bringing my keto oatmeal left from my Atkins days. It does have splenda in it, but it's gotta be better than eating a pop tart for breakfast along w/everyone else. Help!!

Hey Cindy,

How fun a camping trip!! I LOVE camping -- you are going to have a blast! I know how hard it can be to eat well on a camping trip.. haha
What you are bring sounds pretty good -- apples, berries, Nuts (lots of nuts, they are so easy and don't spoil easily), various kinds of meats, baby carrots, maybe a loaf of spelt bread or other unproccesed bread, I'm not so sure about the atkins oatmeal with SPlenda?? I just read an atrocious article about the dangers of SPLENDA -- I believe WANDA posted it a while back (thanks Wanda :-) ) I'll post it at the bottom of this, when you read it -- you may think twice about the splenda????
Don't stress too much about it -- HAVE FUN above all else -- if you are feeling good, you will eat good!

Have a blast!

I'm not sure how to post a link just yet, so you may have to cut and paste it!!
and THANKS TO WANDA for posting originally!!

how about just plain oatmeal for breakfast? minute oats, just add to boiling water. peanutbutter and nuts would be a good protein that won't spoil. whole wheat crackers for carbs. those would make good snacks. fresh veggies that you don't clean first and do ok out of the fridge for a few days can be taken also. carrots, peppers, green beans. just don't wash & pare until you're ready to cook them.

have fun!!
