Help-going to the mall food court!
What can I eat. I want the chinese/japanese stir fry chicken that I always get (without the rice or lomein obviously)
I'm sure they have them at all the malls, where they stirfry the chicken on the big flat top grill and force samples on everyone? I'm sure the chicken is okay but what about the sauce? The workers there barely speak english. I know the sesame chick is breaded and full of sweet sauce. Anybody have a clue on the teriyaki? or other suggestions of what to eat there? |
Our mall food court has a SaladWorks where they have all kinds of salads. You choose the dressing and they toss it for you. Hopefully, your food court has something like it, so you aren't stuck with high carb stuff. Good luck on your LC journey!!!

If you MUST do oriental, try to convey to them that you want chicken with no sauce.
Next best thing would be to eat as little sauce as possible. Otherwise head to the the salad shoppe! |
or burgers or steaks or deli sandwiches with no roll.

I was thinking of asking can I wait for the chicken on the grill before they sauce it. I'm just not sure what the heck the sauce is and would love to have it if its allowed. They call it Teriyaki, but who the heck knows whats in it I can't bring myself to eat salad at the mall, if nothing else I could probably get a gyro and not eat the pita, but I really love Chinese |
Teriyaki has sugar.

How About Greek Food?
Our mall food court has a subway and an italian place for salads, but I seem to steer towards the greek place to get some souvlaki chicken skewers on greek salad (dressing on the side). Very yummy and filling (I ask them to skip the rice or potatoes)!
Happy shopping! Froufie :yay: |
I go to the Cajun place and get blackened chicken, cabbage and broccoli. Yum!

:dazzle: Steak Escape "America's Favorite Cheese Steak"
Theirs so many things you can have (i.e any of the grilled sandwiches without the roll, grill salads, steak, chicken, turkey, ham, etc...) enjoy :-)Steak Escape |
I usually have a Subway salad, or Burger king burger, no bun and a salad... I try to avoid Chinese, since the sauces are loaded with sugar and starch, and my favorites are even worse!
I try to avoid the food court if I can, the french fry aroma and cinnamon buns from the bakery..<drool> Well, you get the idea! Unfortunately, the food court is my son's favorite place. I try to make sure I've been to the health food store FIRST, and grab something "legal" first, to munch while my son does his "thing". |
If they have a Bruchi's at the food court - they have an oriental chicken sandwich that it really good. I order it with cheese and no roll with a ceasear salad-no croutons-and put the meat mix on top. Yum! It really works with any of the cheesesteaks. When I order it to go for work they will put the meat mix in a container so I can reheat the meat without ruining my salad later.
TacoTime and such usually have a taco salad you can order with no shell-I buy them with shredded beef and chicken and all the goodies. |

Wendu's
I just went to Niagara Falls this weekend (Canadian side) and had one of their new Chicken BLT salads......with their caesar dressing.....I gave the cherry tomatoes to my sister, but the rest of the salad was great!.....the dressing has no sugar added, and was something like 1g carb for the whole pouch......I'm so happy to find that, because there's a Wendys at the food court near my work.......

What I do
Amid the pizza, burgers, tacos, sandwiches & fries at every mall, we always manage to find something lc. I esp enjoy Cultures salads, they have many great choices. Just this weekend, we tried Bourbon St. Grill & had their bourbon chicken & veggies (lotsa broccoli) :yum: . The chicken was in a sweet sauce, but still a good choice. If there's a Greek restaurant, go for their salad & chicken soulvaki. KFC, Wendy's & McDonald's have salads, not that they are very lc, (esp the dressings!) but, if that's all there is, it's a better option than buying a burger to only throw away the bun (& some $$)...
