Avatar?
 

I have this really cute avatar I want to use, but it keeps telling me that there is a problem with the upload. The picture shows down at the bottom of the avatar selection page, though. What's the deal? Can anyone help?

Your profile allows you to use an avatar and/or a picture if it falls into a certain format. It can only be 100x100 pixels and the filesize is limited also. There's a pretty good selection already available here. I uploaded my own picture but it can only be seen in with my profile information as it exceeds the 100x100 pixel limit. You can try modifying your own or just use one that's already available here.

If you have MS photo you can tools/resize/ change inches to pixels and then make the largest 100 (the other will adjust) then save and you can then upload.

It's not the size that matters...
 

Well, problem is, its only 68x68, so it's not because of the size. It's a .jpg, so it's not the file type. I'm stymied.

You need to upload the picture as a custom avatar. You've uploaded it as your profile picture, which is a different thing. If you click on the profile icon at the bottom of your post, you'll see it there on your member profile page ;).

Note** .. you need to convert it to a .jpg or .gif image. The database will only accept valid GIF, JPG, or PNG images as avatars.

Oooops, forgot to add ..

Make sure you've selected "yes" in the custom avatar section, and make sure that the "do not use avatar" dot at the top is cleared.
