diet soda

I'm in Houston, Texas and a newbie to L/C and I'm wondering if anyone know of any diet soda's that do NOT contain aspartame?

Diet Rite! After a week of nothing but water, it tasted pretty darn good. I didn't try the cola, but the flavored ones are great.

Fruit2O. It is made with Splenda and comes in many fruity flavors. It is very good. It is non-carbonated. I have found it in Wal Mart Neighborhood Market, Sam's Club, and Bruno's supermarket. I noticed tv ads for the product today that I think are national spots, so it should be widely available.

Check the house brands

I buy the Food Lion house brand diet sodas--no aspartame. Don't know if the chain gets to you, but it looks like some of the cheaper brands use different sweeteners. Stay away from anything made by Coke or Pepsi.

And then there is club soda, all the bubbly waters, and the flavored waters with no calories. I'm with you--by 4 pm my mouth just needs something different.

It deals with luck. Some people are still able to lose while using aspartame and some cannot. I personally fall in an "in between" spot. I continued to lose weight, but I lose MORE weight if I cut out the aspartame.

hummmmm...very interesting....if I cut out aspartame could I loose more than 3 or 4 lbs a week.
That would be awesome.

Vonhinx Sat, Jun-28-03 08:42

I don't know, 3-4 lbs per week sounds like a good place to be for me. I lost 7 lbs during induction and have averaged 1-3 lbs per week since then. The better weeks (2 or 3 lbs) were often the weeks after I dropped or extemely limited aspartame. I would just enjoy your diet cokes while happily sitting on the high end of the weight loss scale LOL.

Shasta beverage company makes a drink called Cascadia that uses Splenda, 4 carbs for 1 liter..I've been drinking that when I need a little break from the water. I buy it at HEB and I think WalMart may carry it also.

Hansen's diet sodas are sweetened with Splenda, as is diet Cheerwine. :)

Also, you can buy DaVinci's sugar free syrups & add them to seltzer or club soda to make your own sodas... kind of like those Italian sodas you see in coffee houses.

You guys in the States are so lucky. I can't find a single diet soda in the UK that DOESNT contain aspartame. Even the flavoured waters here contain aspartame. Does anyone know of any brands that are available in the UK that are made with Splenda? I could kill for some fizz right now!

...i found a soda at albertson's in california that contained aloe vera, no sugar, is sweetened with spelda, and has 0 carbs...it was delicious! i'd put it in the freezer just long enough for ice crystals to begin to form and it was great! i wish i could remember the name of it...duh...but i have not found it back here in ohio...which does not surprise me! lol! :p

Spiderdust - - I like to make my own, too.

I started keeping Angostura lime syrup (1gm/1 Tbsp.) and grenadine around. With Splenda and house-brand soda water, I can make stuff that I actually like better and find more refreshing than most bottled sodas. I do miss my ginger ale, though . . . . Maybe I can find a ginger concentrate somewhere.

diet ginger ale!!

Hansen's makes a diet ginger ale!!
And you can get a Splenda sweetened ginger syrup at Nature's Flavors. DaVinci also sells a sugar free gingerbread flavored one... it might work for ginger ale.
