chinese food

Help I think I am having a major meltdown. I really really want chinese food. But I know that is a bad idea. all the the salt. All that water retention. any suggestions. I am almost at the dialing the phone stage to order something. I have been thinking about this for 2 or 3 days. Ever since my friend mentioned that she had friend rice at her house and wanted me to come get some.

from Atkins site

At Chinese Restaurants

Choose ...
egg-drop soup (beyond Induction phase)
Instead of ...
egg rolls

Choose ...
sizzling shrimp platter
Instead of ...
shrimp fried rice

Choose ...
steamed tofu (bean curd) with vegetables
Instead of ...
any chow fun (wide noodle) dish

Choose ...
stir-fried pork with garlic sauce
Instead of ...
sweet-and-sour pork

Choose ...
beef with Chinese mushrooms
Instead of ...
beef lo mein

Choose ...
steamed whole fish
Instead of ...
shrimp with black bean bauce

Choose ...
chicken with walnuts
Instead of ...
chicken with cashews

Choose ...
sautéed spinach with garlic
Instead of ...
moo shu vegetables (with four pancakes)

Tips:
If you’re in the Induction phase of Atkins, stick to dishes that are stir-fried, steamed or broiled, and ask for sauces to be served on the side. Because so many Chinese sauces are prepared with cornstarch or sugar, it is best to avoid sauced dishes when you are doing the stricter phases of the Atkins Nutritonal Approach™. Certain restaurants will prepare dishes without cornstarch and sugar upon request.
If you’ve moved on to the Ongoing Weight Loss phase, you can probably order one sauced dish and one simply prepared dish. Even better, order the sauced dish with the sauce on the side so that you can regulate how much of it you eat.
By the time you are in the Pre-Maintenance phase—and if your metabolism allows it—you may be able to enjoy a half-cup serving of brown rice with your meal.

If your at home there are alot of low carb chinese recipes. I'm thinking of doing the Mock Pork Fried Rice tomarrow. It uses greated cauliflower.

You don't need chinese food later after you eat it you will feel guilty and bad and ikky think about staying on track and how good you are going to look and feel. :D I know it is hard!! I am on Induction and my b/f ate Oreo Cream Pie in front of me. and that is my favorite eat something else that you are supposed to quick before you dial!!

I absolutely love Garlic Chicken, so glad I can have it once in a while on low carb. I know the folks at my fav chinese restaurant so I am sure they will make it without any cornstarch or msg for me. Thank you for the info!
