Splenda Tabs - Carb count

Hope this is in the right area. I cant seem to get a carb count on the little splenda tablets I put in my coffee. Fitday does not have it listed. Maybe they dont get it in America. Can anyone help?

Thanks

hi notty,

as far as i know they have zero carbs, splenda powder had carbs because of the filer, but the tabs don't. I dissolve splenda tablets in hot water or crush them to use instead of sugar (or splenda powder). 10 tablets of Splenda equals around half a cup of sugar.

cheers, sam

Hi there,

Here is my table for Splenda tablets.

1 tablet = 0.075g carbs = 1 tsp regular sugar (1tsp granulated Splenda)
4 tablets = 0.3g carbs = 1 tbs regular sugar (1tbs granulated Splenda)
12 tablets = 0.9g carbs = 1/4 cup regular sugar (1/4 cup granulated Splenda)
24 tablets = 1.8g carbs = 1/2 cup regular sugar (1/2 cup granulated Splenda)
48 tablets = 3.6g carbs = 1 cup regular sugar (1 cup granular Splenda)

Hope this helps.

Also, it is the filler they use in the granulated splenda that contains all the carbs. The tablets do not have this so are therefore lower.

I purchased a mortar and pestle and a pastry brush for crushing my Splenda tablets. Previously I was using a large meat mallet to crush the tablets. The mortar and pestle and brush work so much better and I use them every day.

Now if only I could purchase Splenda tablets in bulk - they are not cheap and also it is fiddly getting the tabs out of the packet - especially when a recipe calls for 48 tablets.

Thanks again.

Till now I have only had them in coffee, but I am sure I will be using them more as I expand my LC cooking recipes....

I think you can get it in liquid form

Hi everyone

I think you can get splenda in liquid form I haven't seen it on the market but I remember when I was doing aged care some of the diabetic oldies had splenda in a bottle that they would just squeeze out as needed. I don't know where they got it from at the time I didn't need to worry. Maybe you can order it through pharmacies or something?

Anyway just thought I would mention it.

Unfortunately liquid Splenda is no longer available anywhere except for commercial use. (Not sure it was ever available here for retail use?)

If you haven't already signed the petition to bring back liquid Splenda, here is the link: http://www.petitiononline.com/Splenda1/petition.html

Cheers all.

Roz
