Hi Jennifer!

Anytime you drastically change your diet (what you eat), changes in bowel habits can happen; either constipation or diarrhea. Believe it or not, the same thing helps both conditions...fiber!
Fiber helps to soften hard stools and keep them moving and helps to give bulk to loose stools.
There are several things you can try..there are fiber caplets, sugar-free Metamucil and plain psyllium husks that you mix with water and drink. If you do decide to try a fiber supplement, make sure that you drink plenty of water as well.
If you're not eating enough veggies (or any at all), adding more can often help as well.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

antibiotics and the Big D?

I like everything about LC...except for the  crippling diarrhea (the Big D) I have had for two weeks. The fiber supplement helps some -- am I going to have to always take fiber sups on this WOE?

I should mention that I had an ear infection during the second week of induction and I had to take antibiotics for 10 days to clear it up. Could this have triggered the Big D?

This is my only complaint -- if not for the Big D I would be in heaven. Will my tummy eventually get used to this WOE?

Jennifer -- are you feeling better yet? What helped the most?

Feeling better...

I am feeling much better. I have been having an occasional cup of plain yogurt, upping my water and adding psyllium (sp?). My tummy is 100% better.

I am going to try eating a cup of yogurt per day until the end of the week (to replace the good bacteria in my tummy) and then try to reduce the psyllium a bit. Then I'll go back to strict induction.

Thank heaven for this board and the search function -- I was so glad to know I wasn't alone...and that I could add yogurt for a while without ruining my progress. :)
