Can't get into chat

When I attempt to go into chat it says "You must first login to the forum to chat. Click your browser back button and login/register", but I already am logged in. I have tried to sign out, re login, and then enter chat. It does not work. What is going on? Can someone help please?

Hi Lovable,

Other folks have found they cannot use the Chat Room if they are using Netscape. Explorer is usually fine. I believe AOL users also have difficulty.

In that case, I'll pass on some advice from Doreen to someone with a similar problem:

The log-in problem happens because you're not cookied [;)] You need to go to your User Control panel (by clicking on the icon at the top right of every page). From the user control panel, click on Edit Options. Then, select "yes" for the option "Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)" and "Browse board with cookies". Be sure to click Submit at the bottom. You should be able to get into the Chat Room without any problem. Unless of course you're using Netscape or AOL. [;)]

Unfortunately, this new version of vBulletin does not have cookie-handling options in the user control panel, so that information is no longer helpful.

Just make sure you enable cookies in your browser. Also can be caused by firewalls and ad-blockers.

I don't mean to be stupid, but what do you mean by enabling cookies????

tamarian Wed, Jul-09-03 04:36

It's an option in your browse settings.
