Flax oil advice needed!

Hello once again all,

My friend is on Atkins...but a very sever version of it. He drinks 3-4 protein drinks a day and a chicken breast at night...that's all! Of course he is a bodybuilder, but jeeze...

ANYWAYS, he takes flax oil pills. I know flax oil contains the good fat for your heart. I just want to know how many pills I should take a day, and EXACTLY what flax oil pills contain and how they help your heart (or whatever else it helps).

Thanks for your input.

3-4 protien shakes a day and a chicken breast is not Atkins, or even close. It sounds more like slimfast.

To do Atkins, or most LC plans out there he would need to be eating his veggies, and most of all "FAT" (besides the pills)

You might look for the liquid form of the oil. At first it's kind of nasty, but it grows on you after a while. You can even get flavored oils such as garlic herb or cinnimon :)

I have been using Flax Seed Oil for almost a week because it does have proven health benefits.

GNC Natural Brand Flax Seed Oil 500mg / 90 softgel capsules. Suggested one to two per day. $4.99

I take one capsule with breakfast and one with dinner. It may be one of those supplements you know is doing you good rather than feeling the good it does?

In order to get all the benefits of flax oil, buy a bottle of oil and drink 2 tsps dailey,,, otherwise you have to take alot of oills to equal that amount, and keep your flax innthe fridge,

it taste real bad though, need a chaser,

how much flax oil is too much flax oil. What if most of your fat content comes from flax seed oil to make 70% of diet fat as recomended. That is about 6 tblspoons. Is that too much? And what would too much do to you.

Safety: :exclm: Megadoses (>100 grams) of any type of concentrated oil is likely to induce gastrointestinal distress such as nausea and diarrhea due to a laxative effect. Effective doses of flaxseed or flaxseed oil of 30-40 grams per day are unlikely to pose any adverse side effects.

Dosage:  Beneficial effects have been observed at daily doses of 30-40 grams (2-4 ounces) of either concentrated flaxseed oil or whole flaxseeds per day. Popular uses include salad dressings and spreads for the oil, while the seeds are often used in baked goods or sprinkled on cereal or other foods.

I take capsules and I use the Flax seed ground meal. That is enough Flax for me.
