Help!! I have the munchies...

I have been quit for a week and a couple of days! But I have the munchies all day, and I want to eat, eat, eat! Any suggestions?

In one of those links I posted a few posts down, there is an explanation why nicotine cravings are identical to food cravings. I think they both get giverned from the same part of the brain or something.

So recognise the craving for what it is. A nicotine craving and treat it accordingly. One big old icy cold glass of water and 5 minutes of eyes closed, deep breathing.

Know the worse times of day for you and get prepared to deal with them ahead of time.

For me, after lunch and dinner are sad times for a few minutes until I turn my mind off them and onto something else

I quit 14 month ago and I always had a glass of water and started exercising when a craving hit. I went for walks or on the stationary bike. Needless to say I got really fit going through withdrawal:)

For me, I drink water. I've increased my water to 192 oz a day.

Made it past the munchies

Great news! No more munchies!!!!!!!! If you are struggling with munchies, wrap your head around the fact that you will NOT pick up a munching habit instead of a cigarette habit. It just takes a couple of days of will power and LOTSA water with ice, and you get past the munchies stage!

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions, they were a great help!

Exactly

Smoking and hunger - polar opposites (one you have to do to stay alive - the other will kill you)

yet create similar feelings in the body.

its an empty insecure feeling where the body is craving that little evil - nicotine.

In 3 days the nicotine will be gone and in 3 weeks this emptyness feeling will pass and then the insecure feeling will truly be hunger :)
