I have been on low carbs ( +/_ 20 ) for over three wks. Have not lost a gram. Tried viewing my keytoses today- slight. I am an active 77 yr.old playing golf four times a wk. 40 lbs. over ny fighting wt. gained much of this mess after a medically induced hormone change. |
Hi jeb! Welcome! Have read the book or have you been to the Atkins site? There is alot of useful information in both places and this forum.
Here is a list from the Atkins site: Allowed Foods on Induction Also: Additional Info You should take your measurements because although you might not see a difference on the scale you may be losing inches. Hope this helps. Good luck. red  |
Have you resolved the medical situation that caused the weight gain?
Dr. Atkins lists a number of things that will hinder weight loss, that's probably also on his website. One of them is the use of prescription drugs or hormones. |
Patience
You're not trying to lose a really significant amount of weight and, as you say, you are physically active too. I would recommend, at your weight, to watch your food volume. Some people disagree with me, but in attempting to get the pounds off at your weight, you will need to watch how much you eat. Being moderate with the proteins would work well for you, considering age and metabolic factors.
Hey.. Good Luck, and keep us posted:) |
Why don't you try posting some menus for us so we can see what you are eating? Someone can usually identify a problem.
Just a few basics: You can have 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of low carb veggies. No more than 4 oz of cheese get your vitamins! Only use real butter, cream, mayonaise-NO milk, or margarine. Many people keep a ratio of 65-70% fat, 20-25% protein and 5% carbs. If you go to www.fitday.com it is pretty easy to calculate that. |
