Do calories matter?
I've been purusing a lot of posts all over this site and many people are both LC'ing and counting calories. I've heard many different opinions on this and was just wondering if I should be adding up calories along with my carbs?

BMR info is very helpful.
Here is a link. http://www.ecybex.com/education/cal...s/bmr_calc.html Calculate your BMR based on Age sex and weight. then adjust for activity level. Take that amount then subtract 10-15% if you go below 15% less than BMR you will lose weight slowly but some of that will be Lean Body Mass (muscle ) Not good. NO diet will work if you eat more than your adjusted BMR. I hope that helps, any questions let me know. Jag |
Bmr
JagBender, good site. I asked a question on another link about this, but now I have the answer. I am just returning to Atkins after a 3 month hiatus so I have a lot of catching up to do, in addition to 11 lbs to answer for. I stopped because of what I thought was a medical problem with Atkins, but after talking with my doctor today he told me to go back on Atkins.

Personally, I think calories matter. However, I wouldn't count anything but your carbs to start with. I'd recommend you eat whatever amount it takes to satisfy your hunger during induction, but not a bite more. You may eat quite a bit at first, while getting over your feelings of deprivation-but those feelings pass, after a while you may need to remind yourself to eat-and then make sure you aren't dropping too low. Make sure your meals are LC and high fat, moderate protein and don't worry about it!
