Flavors come alive again? Anyone?
I have noticed since eating a LC menu that I am able to taste more flavor in the things that I eat.
Perhaps it's purely psychological, but I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience? For example, before I began the LC Way of life, I would eat chicken and it would taste BLAND. But now when I eat chicken it seems to burst alive with flavor... Anyone know why this happens? |
Why it happens?
Probably because our tastebuds aren't coated with a thick layer of sugar or starch anymore :) Honestly I don't know. But I have noticed over the past year that things do have a stronger flavor. Almost a sweetness of their own. Pretty neat huh? |
bell pepper sweets
One of the sweetest veggies ever is the bell pepper!
I LOVE to munch on red bell pepper! It is so incredibly sweet!! |
It's the fat!
Fat is a great conveyor of flavor. It also keeps flavors from "evaporating" during cooking.
I too am enjoying my food so much more. ;-Deb |
Salt
Since I read "The Paleo Diet," I've started cutting WAY back on my salt.
I did notice more flavor before that, but now everything tastes much sweeter on their own. Garrison, I've been grilling my own red bell peppers and red onions to chop-up on my salads. It's like eating candy! Yummy! |
