Hi all,

I'm Lauri and I'm a recovering carb addict. I have been wandering around the boards for over a week and I'm ready to jump in. I'm 40 years old and have three teenage daughters. I've been married for 19 years to my DH who happens to weigh 165 lbs. I've low carbed in the past and have lost weight but always seem to go back to my old habits and gain it all back. After the holidays I found that I was at the weight of 291 which is what I weighed when I gave birth to my last daughter. So onto the low carb lifestyle I go. I am now thinking of this as a disease and low carb is the medication. I know that I feel better when I cut down carbs but it's still hard when my husband loves his carbs and I'm the one that shops for and prepares them for him and my kids.

In the last couple of years I also became a drinker where I found myself drinking at least three times a week. I've given up the spirits completely until I get some of this weight off.

I've been heavy my whole life and have no idea what if feels like to be a healthy weight. This time I feel different. I'm looking to all of you to bring me the encouragment and support that I feel I have never had with past weight loss efforts. This time I don't feel alone.

Anyway... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!
