Started with Adkins shifting to CAD

Hi, I'm a new member, anxious to learn all I can about low carb plans. I started about three weeks ago doing Dr. Adkins Diet and find it to be really hard. I really enjoy breads and pastas, so I'm thinking CAD is a better plan for me. Years ago
prior to my first daughters wedding I lost 40lbs. doing CAD. I know I can do it again and stick to it this time. My worry
however is the switch. Will I gain weight at first? Will I mess all the progress I've made to this point (weight loss)? Can
someone help me with some suggestions?

Hello

Well there are some out there that can answer your qusetion better...but I'll give it a go.

Those that have switched said to me that a few pounds temp gain is normal...when I switched I was scared I had lost 40 pounds on Atkins but I did not get a gain. I did notice however that my weight bounces 1-2 pounds on CAD and that did not happen on Atkins for me. But actually it was kinda good for me I've stopped being so scale obsessed It still goes down and thats the point right!!!!

I recently went totally cheating for amonth and I am back on plan doing Atkins until I feel I am under control and closer to the weight I was at before...And today I am back to the weight I started CAD at a few more to lose and I will back at my lowest.

Well Godd luck...I really like CAD although for me the weight loss is slower it is a really satifying ang non-depriving WOL

Hi Blossom,
:rose:
Welcome to the group. I was on Atkins for over a year and had lost 46 lbs. But due to some medical problems with high fat intake I decided to do CAD. I've been on it for almost 1 1/2 weeks and had lost some wt .
Like you i was afraid i'd gain wt . But so far so good. This WOe just like Atkins is an individual thing. We all react differently. Take the Carb Addict Test.

The best part of CAD is the reward meal I can now eat with the family once a day if I want to.
Get the new edition of the CAD there are some changes.
Do post often and let us know your progress. if you have any questions somebody here will help you. This a very supportive, friendly group.

Again happy to see another CADDER!! :cheer:

Thanks to all that responded to me. I just got back from taking my childred and grandchildred to the beach for the day and evening. I ate as I was suppose to and after 3 days have gained back about 4lbs. As you can guess I am really
depressed about this. I hoping that things will switch gears here really soon and I will see a weight loss. My two daughters on the other hand who have just started CADLP for the 1st time and losing great. I'm hoping that what is happening to my body is from the switch only and just temporary.

I couldn't wait to get back and talk to everyone. I love reading all of the nice things everyone has to say and hope that
eventually I'll be able to add and help to the conversations. Thanks for the support.

Hello

I did CAD for one week had no gain at all,but had to return to Atkins because my irritable bowel came back with a vengance! I loved the freedom of CAD and enjoyed the RM's,but my body did not. Didn't gain even one lb though.. and had done Atkins four months straight before the switch. I wish I could have stayed with it,because I loved it,but with my tummy probs. I could not handle it. Good luck to you!

Hang in there Blossom. Things will change. I also put on 2 kg (a little more than 4lbs) and freaked out but now it has turned around and I have lost it. So it does go down when your body is ready.

What is CAD? And does it differ from Atkins?
