I feel welcomed plus another question

Thanks to everyone who responded to my thoughts on eating low carb. I do feel very positive about the changes I am making. In my Atkins food journal it said that it was fine to eat an Atkins low carb bar during the induction phase. Is this ok as long as I keep my total carbs less than 20? It was very satisfying? Also, what are the differences between South Beach and Atkins? Jane

The bars are ok as an EMERGENCY - in other words, if you are really hungry, and can't get your meal in, then have a bar before eating something that is not on the acceptable list. ...my best advice is to stict totally to the acceptable induction list in Dr. Atkins book..you will have the best success this way.

I agree with teresamay...while it's OKAY to have them...it's not ideal...for one thing they stall many people...for another thing you're trying to change your eating habits and break addictions. The best thing to do is to forego any lc frankenfoods during the first two weeks...after that if you REALLY want them then add them slowly...no more than 3x during the first week...so that you can see how they will affect your weight loss and how you feel.

I agree, only as an emergency. I personally won't eat them on induction. I've tried, and even one bar a day slowed if not stalled my weigh loss for a day or so. I'd try to stay sugar free for induction to cleanse your body of them. If you can make it past the first few weeks, you shouldn't get cravings very often if at all. Good luck with your new LC diet. :)
