ketostix

hello all, i have a question about the ketostix. does it matter how purple it gets? i can't seem to get it past 'trace', very rarely 'small', and i'm not sure if it should be going higher. love this site and all the info and encouragement :)

ketostix - best friend or worst enemy!

When I first did induction a few years ago, during the two weeks I turned them dark purple only twice. The rest of the time they were a lot lighter - trace, usually. I still lost 3pounds a week consistently for about 5 months.

Don't make the ketostix the be-all, end-all.

I eventually threw them out and continued to lose over 100 pounds, even though they had been indicating no ketones.

Nope, the darkness of the color does not matter. If it is even showing trace, you are in ketosis. Often times if the color is dark purple, you are dehydrated.

Keep in mind too, that some people are in ketosis but never turn the sticks any color.
