In need of some advise...
I have been reading allot on these threads about protein powders and soy flour and whey powder ....I have never purchased these and don't know where to start....Is there a special kind I should buy?.....Where do you buy these?....Are there any carbs in this?...Is whey powder a protein powder? ....Are these two the same thing?..... Any advise will be very appreciated...:)

I use "Todietfor", the can says 1 carb per serving, but I make mine with whipping cream and water - so it turns out to be about 5 carbs per serving. This product is soy based and comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, it's about $35 a can but lasts for a while.

I bought protien whey powder from GNC with my gold card (good investment) and got this HUGE tub of it for about $15.00. It tastes great and only has about 4 carbs per serving. I can just stir it into a glass of cold water with a splash of cream and it does the trick!

Do you have a Trader Joes?
If you have a Trader Joe's around, you're in luck.
It may not be the best tasting, but it's a fantastic protein powder. A 2 Lb tub is only $10. Zero carb. (It's Soy Protein Isolate) |
reply i need some advise
Hey there
It all depends on what you want, if you are looking to build muscle and size you will want Whey protein, look for a nutrition or supplement place close to you and they will be able to tell you exactly which one is good for your needs. |
I'm currious about all the different protein powders too. I've seen recipes for breads and things that use them. What is the best to buy for baking and does it work well?

i'm a huge Trader Joe's fan!
here here, i second Trader Joe's, I shop there for almost everything because of the low prices and healthy food. Their soy protein powder is the first kind I ever bought, because the price was right (I did a lot of comparisons). That 2 lb tub lasts a LONNNG time! Recently though, I've switched to the Zone's vanilla protein powder, which also has 0 carbs and tastes a lot better, in my opinion. also available at TJ's, for less than the Zone's website.
Find out if you have a Trader Joe's near you: http://www.traderjoes.com/locations/index.asp |
I can recommend The Protein Factory. They offer a variety of high-quality, zero-carb protein isolate (not concentrate) powders that are mixed, flavored, and sweetened according to your order. The information on their web site is educational, and if you call, they offer help in deciding which product/product blend is appropriate for your needs. I order a 50-50 mix of the CFM whey (very quick absorption for the morning) and micellar casein (a little slower absorption, anti-catabolic) flavored with vanilla for use in my morning shake.

Thanks everyone for the reply....:)
I live in Canada...I don't think we have any Trader Joe's....:( I have seen recipes with these kinds of powders like low carb pancakes and others that don't come to mind right now....I am interested in trying it in baking, but I don't know what to look for...I have never bought this before and I don't know much about this stuff.... |
There are a lot of places online that have discount protein powder. I've heard good things about Designer Whey Protein Powder, might want to give it a try.
I've ordered stuff from Nutrition Express before, and was very pleased with the speed of delivery. http://www.nutritionexpress.com/pls...=&pg=1&ent=1002 Good luck! You might have to try a few different ones out , like I did, before you find one that tastes good to you. |
