Questions on the use of Keto Stix

I purchased some Keto Stix on Saturday. I tested myself on Saturday afternoon and then again this morning, both times I was in deep maroon - good right?

What I am wondering is, if once you are in lipolysis/ketosis are you continously in that state? (As long as you are following a LC eating plan) Or does the rate ebb and flow throught the day, depending on when you eat and/or excercise.

If I eat dinner at 6:30pm, and got up at 3:00am would I still test the same as 3:00 in the afternoon, 3 hours after a LC lunch?

I think it changes a little depending on what you have eaten and when you have exercised. I also know that you dont want the stick to be too dark or you may not be drinking enough water. We need to flush those ketones out asap....but i guess we stay in ketosis as long as we are under 50 g or so from what Ive read.

Hi there,

You may be constantly in ketosis - but that doesn't necessarily mean that excess ketones will spill over into your urine. You may be using them all as fuel.

If you go to Low Carb Tips (on the orange bar that runs across the top of the screen), you'll find an article there called Ketosis and Ketone Test Strips that will give you more information. :)

Thanks Rosebud, that article answered alot of questions.

Pammiejoe6, I would think that I am drinking plenty enough water, I drink 8-10, 16oz. glasses of water a day. I know that the glass holds 16 ounces, because i measured it. Both times I tested with the keto strips, it was pretty dark.

I test mine at the first urine of the day. Its the most concentrated but also I dont think there are the chances that something you ate recently will effect it. Sometimes if you eat a really fatty meal it can change the results. I just look once a day.
