ABC Good Morning America-LoCarb special week

Morning all, All this week ABC Good Morning America has been doing a daily segment on low carb with various famous chefs giving recipes. Wolfgang Puck has a pizza dough recipe that looks wonderful and has 5.6gms of carb per slice vs the traditional pizza running around 20gms. Better yet, it is made with products we all would have in our pantries. I plan on making the pizza tonight, I will let you know how it goes over with the family. Have a great day! :)

This is the website for the low carb on GMA. I think I would try the Pizza with whole wheat flower, rather then all purpose. After all I find high carb foods rather addictive, so why take the chance of being hungry a hour after you eat. This will most likely change the taste a bit, but I have had whole wheat pizza crust from Villages in Victoria, and it tasted great.

Thanks, I will try it with the whole wheat flour. You are right those darn carbs are addictive once they find their way back into my day to day diet. Cheers!

truly low carb?

"Wolfgang Puck's cheese pizza is a little less than 60 calories, and contains just 5.6 grams of carbohydrates." (from the ABC site)

Okay... um, how is a recipe with 2.25 cups of *all-purpose flour* low-carb? According to Fitday, that's 215g of carb with only 8g fibre... which, divided by four, is over 50g carb per pizza... I'm a bit confused about that. Is there some kind of magical explaination for this?

Yield: Makes 4 8-inch pizzas. A regular cheese pizza is 140 calories per slice, plus 20 grams of carbohydrates. Wolfgang Puck's cheese pizza is a little less than 60 calories, and contains just 5.6 grams of carbohydrates. It's probably per slice. I can't imagine a regular pizza only has 20 carbs for the whole thing. KWIM?

HTH,
Alli
