There and Back Again
I once was svelt and lithe A beauty to behold As graceful as a gazelle At least that’s what I’ve been told. Tennis was my racket And volleyball my game I was extremly active Now nothing is the same. I used to hike up mountains And swim in bottomless springs I walked for miles up rugged trails And dreamt of a million things That I would do througout my life I had many plans and dreams And lofty aspirations And many well-planned schemes Yes I was tall and slim Built like an athelete I thought my life would be One big winning streak. But then I married and had kids And warmed them all with love Like other things I tackled cooking Like a mandate from above. Intead of being a super-star I became a super-mom And had lots of goodies waiting For my family when they came home. The only trouble was I was not still runnng track I ate like there was no tomorrow And almost had a heart attack. My body changed throughout the years From a lean mean fighting machine To one with bumps and bulges My eating had become extreme. The only thing now In which I did compete Was the race home from the grocery store So I could sit down and eat. I looked in the mirror and didn’t see A body fit and trim I saw a fat lady now Who had a double chin. So I threw out all the junk The carbs went out the door I began my healthy journey Hoping to be like I was before before. |
Fluffy bear, the warmest welcome to you!
